I really miss Jim Kaat. Was there ever a greater student of pitching?

I think Michael Kay's strongest point is his interviewing skills. His weakest points are his voice (which is plain irritating), his use of bad puns. He can be too wordy (the fallacy of the pre-determined outcome, aforementioned) and too contrived.

He should stick to his radio show. That's where he's at his best.

Since Cone has been in the booth, I've seen highlights of his Perfect Game at least a dozen times. I love it!

He also is so predictable with things he's going to say- mainly always telling us the runners will be going on a full count pitch with 2 outs and the team has an advantage

Singeton is the best announcer the team has. I just don't like when he calls Yankee-Oriole games because it's clear he's pulling for the opposition.

Flaherty needs to do more games. He has the most potential.

O'Neill, Murcer, Cone, and Leiter are all OK at best at this point.

There are too many announcers here and I wish YES had a consistent 3-man booth. There's too much shuffling in order to create chemistry, I believe.

I admit the Mets have better announcers on radio and TV than we do.
I remembered the issue between Mussina and Kay from years ago, but why would Kay have anything against Kennedy and Hughes?

It's nothing personal. I can't speak about Kennedy, but it's fairly obvious that Kay doesn't think that highly of Phil.

To be fair, he wasn't the only one really critical of Phil (and puzzled) after his August struggles, but on the other hand..........I just can not take anyone seriously (Kay, etc.......) who didn't think that Phil's leg and ankle injuries were still affecting him at the time. Nevermind the fact that Phil was rushed to the big leagues because of the injuries to the rotation (when he would have remained in AAA until September at the earlieset). Kay has said several times that Phil is probably a #3 (which is ludicrous, IMO) and last year, he and Al Leiter basically said they saw nothing special from Phil (no glimpses, no flashes, no nothing).

Someone has got to tell Cone that "variate" is not a word. At least it's not a verb in the English language. He seems to use it at least once every game.

Unfortunately, I have yet to hear the brilliance of David Cone since I don't get YES up here, but I look forward to listening to him when I get home. I was dying laughing at his comments on Kennedy when I heard them on Youtube.

It's an absolute treat to hear Cone describe what a pitcher is thinking and what he should do.

The post game show is gold. No one describes pitching better. Great job by David explaining what Moose is doing.

Except for Singleton, Cone is already the best of the Yankees analysts. He's much better than Leiter.

Totally agree. Cone is wonderful. He's like listening to your favorite professor.

The only problem he has is that he talks a little too much and doesn't allow the action to tell the story.

He did it again ... I'm listening to Yankees Encore, it's the bottom of the fifth with two outs and two runs in and two on and Moose is pitching to Victor Martinez, and Cone said "Variate."

At least his talking is insightful and it's not another repetetive little quip or catch phrase that he thinks is so clever. I can't take Kay or Sterling anymore. I wish they were together again so I could avoid them both.

I can't wait for the day that the Yanks are rid of these two.

Today, he did say something about how Indians were "pounding ARod inside", but I suppose that's pretty typical baseball lingo as ridiculous as it sounds.

I've heard that many, many times. "Pound the ball inside", which is what Moose has been trying to do this year finally. You just have a dirty mind.
