For the record, the first part of this post is a matter of public record. The part of it possibly being a factor in the Cano negotiations is speculation on my part.

Good time for him to serve an 80 game suspension I suppose.

Wow good thing we didn't extend him. Sure he's a good hitter, but I don't want the Yankees to be associated with that stuff.

To answer your question... I am glad we didn't give him a 10 year deal. Enough of giving players deals that extend beyond 40.

I’m not surprised in the least. Screw him, screw Jay Z and screw his father for badmouthing Cashman.

Evidently the medication that he tested positive for is furosemide, the generic form of lasix. I am on it after my kidney transplant. It is a water pill designed to get edema (water retention) out of the body. I guess it is a med that requires players that notify the league.

Pretty sure that's incorrect and he starts serving right away, so the M's dodge a bullet while he's hurt, though obviously now he loses salary.

Great player, great yankee. Sad that he has thrown away his reputation at this time...just goes to show you that the money isn't totally the motivation because at this point, he has everything that he'll ever get from Baseball financially.

Hoping that its a medication issue but that's the delusional fan in me.

    It's a known masking agent.

They dodge a bullet somewhat, but if his suspension is official today then he can't come back to August 14th, the Mariners 141st game of the season. Also, he's ineligible for the playoffs. They save about 11M in salary.

Not surprised at all about him juicing.

It is, but is also used for real medical issues that has nothing to do with it being a masking agent. Players are given the list of banned substances so I'm not buying that Cano wasn't aware he was using a banned substance unless he is truly dumb.

Maybe I am thinking about disciplinary suspensions which I know for a fact do.

according to the basic agreement, failing for a diuretic/masking agreement doesn't trigger an automatic ban. the IPA (independent program administer) is charged with ruling on whether the player intended to mask. the IPA must have ruled that cano did intend to mask.

I had thought so. But as there is a clear medical reason for it I would assume, or at least think, had he notified MLB with a doctor’s letter, that may have changed the outcome

Sucks if this is all true.

Was thinking about posting a poll because I believe Robbie was approaching HOF status heading into this year..

Always was suspicious of him juicing. Was glad the Yankees didn't re-sign him when the terms became too much and even happier now.
