I understand that what constitutes a ridiculous thread is a subjective thing, but I was rather surprised at how harshly MelCoop was treated when she started the "Yankees should have won 120 games" thread...While I would have titled the thread differently and I would have worded certain things differently, I still think she had some valid points. She should have the right to express her opinion and we should have the chance to discuss that opinion instead of the thread being closed within hours...
Why is this thread closed? There's no need to discuss El Duque's contribution to the team as of late??
I think 1000 posts should be the point at which not only can you pick from all the avatars, but also get to use a custom user name. I mean only about 220 something out of the over 6000 users on this site have over 1000 posts, am i right? I mean 4000 seems a little steep in my opinion.
Along the same lines i think custom avatars should be given at 2000, for the same reasons.
Just wanted to share my opinion. Thanks Jim :)
Am I just missing something...or is the sports bar not around anymore?
It's inevitable Jim. Every time someone makes a trade suggestion that might not be plausible or possible, the flood of similar messages comes back:
"YEAH WELL WHY DONT WE SIGN MARK PRIOR TOO WHILE WE'RE AT IT?"
and similar stuff. Not all people are going to make realistic trade suggestions and it's unfair that people get all over them with these stupid remarks after they do so. A simple: "this trade can't happen, and here's why: " would do. Just ranting..i know nothing can be done about...
I know it's April, and I've read enough of the "sky is falling" posts,to wonder if it's time to ressurect(sp) the Bridge Jumpers Forum? At least I'll know where to not go when I log on.:)
I can't figure it out for the life of me
I see where Jim closed a thread (funny closure at that - with the street sign). I am naive to these things I know! The thread was started by a newbie - "Sensual Touch" - who said they were "sooo disappointed" - do you suspect he/she is a troll because it's their first post and it's negative one or is there some other obvious reason and I don't see it? I would please ask for no real sarcastic replys - it's an honest question (perhaps I lost a few brain cells this past long weekend)!
Papers such as the NY Times, Houston Chronicle and I think the LA Times require a freebie subscription in which users tell something about their gender, marital, economic status, etc. If other forumers aren't subscribed to those papers, then how do they read from the link?
I'm posting this as a question, in reference to the forum policy of only using links and a brief quoted paragraph or two.
What are the ranges for adding these under your name? I thought I saw it on the site somewhere, but having a brainfade right now?
I know you get your first one at 10...then what?:NY:
Thanks in advance.
how do I add Links to my to my treads
I don't mean to be aggravating, but I was just wondering why you moved my thread about the Yankees/Mets rivalry to Outside the Lines.
It seemed appropriate to Inside the Lines I thought because the Yankees and Mets were about to play each other.
Why did you change the title of my article?
High Sierra is a Humphrey Bogart Movie from the forties, there's
no drug reference.
Perhaps there should be a way to report a user. Last night we had a user register with a rather offensive name (which has been removed, thanks!). He hadn't posted, but his name was still there at the top of the forums page.
Could we add a method of reporting pricks like this?
I was trying to vote in one of the polls and I recieved this message. "The action you have attempted could not be performed as your session appears to be invalid. Click the below link to attempt this action again with a new session" What does this mean? I tried logging off and back on but it still wouldn't let me submit my vote.
There's just too many trade rumors/proposals in the "inside the lines" section. I know I'm posting this in the wrong section also, but it seems that this is the place where people will see this.
I don't see how these trade proposals/dreams is relevant to "inside the lines"
At other PCs, such as work, I sometimes check into JC, etc. What I don't understand is that I can't see any threads. However, when I get home, I can see them all. They're all using IE6.
Is there any reason for this?
I notice that a few people have been asking recently about how to donate to the NYYFans.com operating fund. Outside of the tiny, easily missed PayPal button at the bottom of the page, there are no instructions on how to go about it. Not everyone has/wants a PayPal account. Some people prefer not to do online transactions.
Would it be possible to have a more visable "DONATE" button or link, maybe at the top of every page, that would list the available options?
I think it would be beneficial to...
Okay, I think this is the correct forum for this, but Im not sure. Is thewre any way to close a weld after a certain amount of time? It absolutley drives me crazy when people post in fifteen consectutive threads welcoming users who last posted 2 months ago, and the welcome thread was their only post ever.
I know this isnt really a big issue, and there are more important issues on the boards. I just think its crazy *shakes head*
