Forum: Around The Majors

Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: Message Boards for Other Teams: A List

Since there have been a couple queries about message boards for other teams in the past couple days, I thought it might be useful to have some sort of list of good fan sites around the MLB. My goal is to have only two or three sites per team--it's not meant to include every forum out there. I also prefer to post forum sites over blogs, although if a blog has a game thread or is really, really good, I'll include it. Thanks for all the suggestions! Edit: Updated on 8/3/11-- New input...

Stan Bostic ? He says that he played for The Red Sox but I'm trying to find out if he's pulling my leg or not. I didn't ask what year/years he played for them but he's 49 years old. Just curious.

  5. The Curse of the Bambino

Rumors has it that when he was a Red Sox player he got very mad one day or something like that and threw in the river a piano, for which he loved to play. Thus that is where and how the curse of the Bambino lies. It also has it that scuba divers are in the river looking for this paino so that maybe the curse will finally come to an end. Has anybody else heard of this?

  9. Jeff Nelson; Major League A**hole

Nelson finds Mariners changed from '95 PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -- Jeff Nelson finds himself in a Seattle Mariner bullpen very different from the one he left in 1995. This Mariners team figures to have a strong relief staff, maybe one of the better bullpens in the American League. The '95 team often struggled to hold leads. "Playing here in the early '90s, we had one or two guys in the bullpen'' to count on,'' Nelson said. "Last year, they had a great bullpen and I'm just adding to it.'' ...

  11. Red Sux Fans Are Losing It

Unruly fans make matters worse by Rich Thompson Sunday, April 29, 2001 http://wwww.bostonherald.com/sport/baseball/s3sd04292001.htm The Red Sox' 8-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals yesterday at Fenway Park was literally a comedy of errors. 13. Carl-o-saurus Knocks Jimy

The infighting is starting. Can anyone say meltdown?... Carl Everett was critical of manager Jimy Williams after the game for failing to have a set lineup. "No one knows who is going to play,'' Everett said. "You come to the ballpark and you don't know who's in the lineup. It's tough to play that way. It is tough for a guy not knowing who's in the lineup. Hitting is very mental.'' Somehow Everett and mental are two words that belong together

  16. Wrigley Renovations Faces Fight

There's a plan to expand the bleachers at Wrigley that is causing grief because the proposal will block the view from the roofs of nearby buildings. This article shows the marked contrast between the respect for tradition in Chicago and New York. Here's a quote: The city is withholding judgment until the Cubs formally submit their plans. Joel Werth, spokesman for the city's planning department, said the city doesn't object to renovations, but won't let the team harm "a city treasure,...

Everett has toughed it out and is playing right field to take some pressure off the knee. He will continue to play through it but might require surgery after the season.
