  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: Message Boards for Other Teams: A List

Since there have been a couple queries about message boards for other teams in the past couple days, I thought it might be useful to have some sort of list of good fan sites around the MLB. My goal is to have only two or three sites per team--it's not meant to include every forum out there. I also prefer to post forum sites over blogs, although if a blog has a game thread or is really, really good, I'll include it. Thanks for all the suggestions! Edit: Updated on 8/3/11-- New input...

  4. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a relaunch of our...

  1. No. 1...in more than one way

In 1978 I had the extreme pleasure of meeting Billy Martin. I was down in Baltimore visiting friends and we saw Billy, believe it or not, coming out of a cooking gadget store! I swear, it's true. I know there are a lot of people who would never have approached him, but I will never regret that we walked right up to him and asked if he would mind posing for a picture with us. (I was with a friend). He was really nice...a true gentleman.

  2. Seems every year......

It seems that every year we are mourning in the loss of a Yank. Last year; 'Joltin' Joe Dimmagio. This year; Bob Lemon. I afraid that for all the greats, their time has finally come. In a few years, many will be gone, and we will lose the "Old Time" feeling. Lets remember and care for that feeling as long as we have it. Go read a book about Babe Ruth. Get a video all about Mickey Mantle. Don't just pay attention to all the up and coming superstars, remember where the real greats are. ...

  4. Yankees and Revenue Sharing

I've been browsing various other MLB club forums and they seem to think that Total Revenue sharing is coming soon to MLB because of this new "Power" the owners entrusted to Bud Selig. They are also of the opinion that Total Revenue sharing will doom the Yankees. I'm I wrong or wasn't it just National TV and Internet revenues that are to be shared and not local TV & Radio? And If I'm wrong and its all Revenues, how do you see this affecting the Yanks if at all? Great New Site!

  5. "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio....."

Does anyone know of a site that gives the entire Simon & Garfunkal (spelling?) song? I was curious about the rest of it. I know most of the parts (such as the one in my signature), but I'm interested in finding the whole song. ------------------ Where have you gone, Joe Dimaggio? 6. Born, Made or Otherwise

I personally was born a fan. My mother and father were both Yankee fans, even before they met each other...so were my grandparents...so that makes me a 3rd generation fan. What's your history? My father saw Gehrig and Ruth play...and my mother's favorite player was "Old Reliable". Through the years, I have had many favorites...Guidry, Nettles, Gossage, Winfield, Righetti, Hunter...and my favorite now, Tino. Although I have to say...I love 'em all!!! ------------------ Ambassador of...

  7. I was theren for abbott's no hitter

I had the leasure of sitting in Dr. Bobby Brown's box seats on the third base side when Jim Abbott threw his no hitter against the indians. When Carlos Baerga grounded out to Velarde for the final out I was needless to say in my glory. Great experience I will not ever forget!

  8. Youth baseball

I'd like to take a minute to plug my friends video, "The 59 minute Baseball Practice". It's a bestseller on Amazon.com. For any coaches out there, it's really worth checking out. Fun drills to develop skills so there's no wasted time at practice. Use of "rag" balls to reduce fear of catching fly balls, bunting, base running, and other important skills, taught in a way that is fun and so kids aren't just standing around shagging balls. It's great even if you aren't a coach. I wish I had this...

  11. 1860's Baseball in NY - The OLD Ball Game indeed!

I just got thru reading an article in the Oct 98 issue of Smithsonian magazine...it was sitting in our break room here at work. Apparently, there has been a resurrgence of "old-time" baseball in the past few years...and I mean OLD TIME. The writer was on location in Old Bethpage, NY covering this league up there that plays baseball the way it was played around the 1860's. They play with no gloves, have 4 strikes and 5 balls...lots of stuff like that. I have GOT to see this! Anyone have...

  20. Remembering Double Headers

I have a 13 year old son and I tell him how double headers were common place. I remember on a warm day, usually a Sunday you get to the game at about 11 and take in batting practice. And in those days the Yankees use to hit last at batting practice so you use to see them, not like now. But yu sit back and enjoy 2 games for the price of a grandstand seat of $1.50. And the games lasted about 2 hours. God how I miss those days. We use to have at least 4 to 6 hot dogs that if I remember cost a...
