  1. Irabu undergoes MRI

Montreal pitcher struggles during medical exam JUPITER, Florida (AP) -- Pitcher Hideki Irabu, traded from the New York Yankees to the Montreal Expos in the offseason, had a MRI on his right elbow Saturday. "It's a precautionary measure," Expos general manager Jim Beattie said. During an exam Friday, doctors saw that Irabu wasn't able to complete all the prescribed exercises. After examining the elbow more closely, they found "some anomalies," said Beattie. The Japanese starter...

  2. Remembering your first time....

Although I've been a Yankee fan since birth, I have never been to Yankee Stadium! I've seen them play in Toronto, Cleveland, and Baltimore, but not in NY yet. Hopefully, I will get there this summer, and I can just imagine what it feels like to walk into that legendary place full of history and Yankee pride for the first time. So I ask you all...what does it feel like? do you remember your first time?

Not just a Yankee Tuesday, February 15, 2000 By MONSY ALVARADO Staff Writer LITTLE FALLS -- Baseball Hall of Famer Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra may be known for appearing in a record 14 World Series with the Yankees, but the Montclair resident also still treasures his appearance in a greater moment in history. When he was 18 years old, Berra was in the U.S. Navy and found himself in combat during the D-day invasion of Normandy, France, on June 6, 1944.

  6. Strike in the forecast

I hate to say this at this time of the year but I see another baseball strike coming when the latest contract is up. Salaries are escalating to the point where the minimum will be 1million dollars and that is ridiculous I am sorry also to say. I hope that I am wrong but baseball is heading in that direction once again. Need for greed. Donald Fehr is the Villain here. His main interest is how much money he can make and thinks nothing of the fans either!

  8. Remembering Double Headers

I have a 13 year old son and I tell him how double headers were common place. I remember on a warm day, usually a Sunday you get to the game at about 11 and take in batting practice. And in those days the Yankees use to hit last at batting practice so you use to see them, not like now. But yu sit back and enjoy 2 games for the price of a grandstand seat of $1.50. And the games lasted about 2 hours. God how I miss those days. We use to have at least 4 to 6 hot dogs that if I remember cost a...

(AP) The Atlanta Braves couldn't escape the shadow of John Rocker at the opening of spring training Friday. Still, they seemed willing to forgive the suspended reliever. 17. 1860's Baseball in NY - The OLD Ball Game indeed!

I just got thru reading an article in the Oct 98 issue of Smithsonian magazine...it was sitting in our break room here at work. Apparently, there has been a resurrgence of "old-time" baseball in the past few years...and I mean OLD TIME. The writer was on location in Old Bethpage, NY covering this league up there that plays baseball the way it was played around the 1860's. They play with no gloves, have 4 strikes and 5 balls...lots of stuff like that. I have GOT to see this! Anyone have...

  20. Youth baseball

I'd like to take a minute to plug my friends video, "The 59 minute Baseball Practice". It's a bestseller on Amazon.com. For any coaches out there, it's really worth checking out. Fun drills to develop skills so there's no wasted time at practice. Use of "rag" balls to reduce fear of catching fly balls, bunting, base running, and other important skills, taught in a way that is fun and so kids aren't just standing around shagging balls. It's great even if you aren't a coach. I wish I had this...
