  2. Question About Saves In Rain-Shortened Games

If the Yankees game does not resume, David Robertson will have entered in a save situation (he wouldn't have been left in to finish, but it's a save situation in that blowing it would have given him a blown save) and held the lead. Can a pitcher who wasn't the last pitcher get a save if the game gets rain-shortened while his team is batting in the next half inning?

  3. 2018 Chasen Shreve Performance Thread

Tonight he became the first pitcher since 1912 (probably ever) to have a game with all of this: 1 1/3 or fewer innings At least 3 strikeouts (I doubt anybody had 3 strikeouts in 1 1/3 or fewer innings before 1912) At least 1 reached on error At least 1 grand slam At least 1 walk At least 1 hit by pitch At least 4 unearned runs 0 earned runs

  5. Could a Trade Deprive Manny Machado of the Triple Crown?

Manny Machado leads the AL in batting average and RBI and is 1 behind Mookie Betts in home runs. Imagine if Machado leads MLB in all three categories but doesn't win the Triple Crown because he gets traded to the NL.

  6. Are lefties at a disadvantage with the new shifts?

On ESPN Scott Boras was defending Harper average (.217) and blaming the new shifts we are seeing. Made the following statement that it's unfair towards lefties, especially power hitting lefties. Makes some valid points. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23991198/scott-boras-sticks-client-bryce-harper-numbers-dipped-contract-year "I've certainly come to the conclusion that shifting is grandly discriminatory in the game against power left-handed hitters. The reason for that is, you see...

  7. Does The 26th Man For a Doubleheader Have to Be One Player?

Does the 26th man for a doubleheader have to be one player going up and down? Can the Yankees activate Tanaka, have him serve as kind of the 26th man, and send somebody else down after the doubleheader who would have gone done to activate Tanaka if there wasn't a doubleheader?

  8. Baseball Prospectus Says Shifts Are Bad Defense

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23724818/to-shift-not-bullpen-shuttle-mlb-next-big-thing links to https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/40088/baseball-therapy-how-beat-shift/ which says shifts are bad defense because they increase walks more than they decrease singles. It has a lot of statistics. It says: "When asked about it, pitchers often talk about how The Shift made them uncomfortable. It was rarely put into words further than that, perhaps because pitchers didn’t want to...

  9. Can we just talk about Mike Trout for a second?

Dude puts up one GREAT year after another. He's unreal. Will go down as one of the all time greats. It's a shame he's being wasted on the Angels tbh I just can't get over his consistent greatness. And it's like he's even getting better.

  12. Does The Ground Rule Double Rule Apply to Reaching on an Error?

Gardner reached second when the ball went through the first baseman's legs and got stuck under the wall, although I thought the ball could have been pulled out. What is the text of the ground rule double rule in terms of applying it to reaching on an error, which isn't a double?

  13. Offense down throughout Major League Baseball

The average slash line for a major league hitter this year: .245, .317, .405, .723 The “tanking” epidemic has hit baseball and hit it hard. Look at the lineup that the Rays are trotting out tonight. There are about 10 franchises actively trying to win. The rest are just using their big league club as an avenue to develop players. It sucks for guys like Adam Lind who couldn’t get a job despite coming off a year in which he hit .300.

  14. My Punishment Proposal For Players Who Test Positive For PEDs

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23512723/robinson-cano-seattle-mariners-suspended-80-games-violating-joint-drug-agreement is titled "Mariners' Robinson Cano suspended 80 games by MLB." Michael Kay said that the only way to eliminate PEDs is to give a lifetime ban for a first positive test. I have a proposal that is not a lifetime ban, but is much bigger than the current 80 games. I propose that after a first positive test, players can never make more than the MLB minimum. Therefore...

  15. Wildcard Teams, Length of Games, & Radical Change Suggestion

I don't think it's fair for a one-game playoff deciding which of the 2 wild card teams make it to the divisional best-of-five series. My suggestion is to have a best-of-three series. 3 days (Tues/Wed/Thurs) in a row at the #1 seed's home ballpark. This is to eliminate any extra travel issues. The revenues generated for all games are equally divided between the 3 organizations. The wildcard team with the better record is the "home team" for the 1st & 3rd games. Consequently, both divisional...

With the recent SCOTUS decision and the prominence of New Jersey in the discussion, I think this is threadworthy. 17. Too early to start talking about the one game playoff?

I personally think with Cano out, the playoff teams are already set in the AL. The only question is weather or not the Yankees or Red Sox face Ohtani. I’d still take the Yanks or Sox at home against Ohtani in a one game playoff, but by no means am I confident. Very possible that a 100 win team gets bounced in the Wild Card round, whether it be against Verlander, Ohtani, or Paxton.

  18. 2013 MLB Draft Redo, Judge vs Kris Bryant

So far the only All Stars to come out of that draft are Kris Bryant, Aaron Judge, and Corey Knebel. Should also be noted the Yankees have first rounders Clint Frazier (#5 overall) and Billy McKinney (#24 overall) still in the organization. Kris Bryant and Aaron Judge are pretty similar players at this point, but gun to my head I’d still probably take Bryant.

  19. Poll: Who has a better year in 2018 Gray/Price

A month in and David Price and Sonny Gray have both been disappointments to say the least Gary 27 IP, 1-2, 6.67 ERA, 1.926 WHIP, 4.5 IP per start Price 37 IP, 2-4, 5.11 ERA, 1.405 WHIP, 5.3 IP per start So which one "turns it around" and has a better year. The answer to this question might have a lot to do with which team wins the AL East this year.
