  2. Changes to HOF Balloting announced

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24638057/hall-of-fame-announces-changes-to-balloting-process Biggest change: Eligible players who are named on least 5.0 percent of BBWAA ballots in a given year will now remain on the ballot for a maximum of 10 years, as opposed to 15 years, which was the previous rule. Grandfathered in will be three candidates who presently have between 10 and 15 years on the ballot: Don Mattingly, Alan Trammel and Lee Smith.

  3. Are These Plays Reviewable?

    1. If the batter hits the ball into himself and there is a dispute as to whether he was in fair territory for an out or the batters' box for a foul ball. 2. If the batter hits the ball into himself, the ball goes in fair territory, the umpires didn't see the ball hit the batter, and the ball is ruled in play instead of foul. I once saw (not this year) a Yankee opponent ground into a double play with the batter not running because he (but not the umpires) knew the ball hit him in the batters'...

  5. The Some of the All Stars Exhibition Game

Anyone watch this thing? I heard Wainwright said he grooved a pitch for Jeter. A nice gesture, but that goes against Bud's wacky decree that the game actually counts. Let's face it, the game has met up with father time and has lost. Time to pull the plug and just let ALL the players have a nice 3 (or 4, if you wish) break in the middle of the season.

Didn't know this fella existed until running into a reddit post. 19-year-old Japanese pitcher/outfielder. Currently rocking a 2.49 ERA while hitting .285/.346/.504 as an outfielder in 156PA. He struck out 16 batters last night; hit 99 on his last pitch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y0nDV-exdI

  16. If you were the Commissioner of MLB for 1 day...

As the title says and you were given the chance to implement just ONE thing, regardless if it's something new or a change to something existing, what would you do? I would have it so EVERY player's salary starts off at say $1 million and performance based. You perform, you get paid as such. I think it would make everyone play better and harder. The way it is now, it seems like players get these multi-million contracts mostly based on what they did in the past. Players play their butts off...

  18. Poll: Should Swing and Miss vs. Foul Ball Be Reviewable?

Yesterday Baltimore's Adam Jones swung and missed for strike three but stayed up because the umpire mistakenly thought he hit the ball foul. Kansas City Manager Ned Yost was ejected for arguing and the play was not reviewable. Jones went on to strike out anyway and the Royals announcers said it was the first time they beat the Orioles 1-0. Do you think swing and miss vs. foul ball should be reviewable?

  20. When Was The Last Day There Were Regular Season Games But None Before 8:00 P.M.?

The only game scheduled to start before 8:00 P.M. tonight was rained out in Cincinnati. I remember all the games starting a little after 8:00 P.M. or a little after 11:00 P.M. on ABC's Baseball Night in America which Wikipedia says was in 1994 and 1995. Wikipedia says it was shared between ABC and NBC but I only remember it on ABC.
