  5. NLDS: Pirates vs Cardinals

I'm watching Game 1 and what a shocker, AJ Burnett implodes in the 3rd inning, who could have seen that coming? 7 Runs in, all in the 3rd inning, and still nobody out, and it all started by walking the leadoff hitter who was the pitcher. Mercifully AJ was finally yanked with a runner on 2nd and still nobody out. Typical AJ

  7. Dusty Baker fired

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9767640/dusty-baker-cincinnati-reds-manager-sources-say Now we all have strong opinions on Dusty. He is very ignorant about a lot of things but the fact remains that his teams win (though not in the play offs). I think he won't be unemployed for to long.

  11. 2013 Cleveland Indians thread

Don't think there is one. Just showing some love for the Tribe....2.5 games out on July 30 and 57-48....lead the majors in shutout wins (14)...playing well. :) Who would have thunk it? Not that they receive any respect/love from ESPN... Love Kipnis, Masterson, Swisher, Bourne and Rayburn....and love this highlight from last night: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_07_29_chamlb_clemlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=cle#gid=2013_07_29_chamlb_clemlb_1&mode=video

  13. Will we see another 300 game winner?

Of all the active players, there are only a few who right now have a chance at 300 wins: CC Sabathia: Age 32, 205 career wins. To get to 300, he would have to average: 11.875 wins if he pitches to Age 40; 13.5 wins if he pitches to Age 39; 15.83 wins if he pitches to Age 38; 19 wins if he pitches to Age 37. Probability, about 50% Tim Hudson: Age 37, 205 Career wins. Five years older than Sabathia. In the expansion era (1961-present) only seven pitchers gave gotten 95 wins after their...

  15. The Nats Performance Thread

Since we have some people here who follow "the other Beltway team", I thought a thread for them would be okay. :D Zimmermann was amazing last night. Atlanta was shut-down and shu-tout. He's been unhittable for weeks now. They need to get the offense going, however. They mentioned a pretty disturbing stat during the game. The team is hitting .219 without Harper's stats; .209 without Desmond and Harper. ...

  16. Does Clayton Kershaw win the NL MVP?

Current stats of note; ERA - 1.80 WHIP - 0.85(!) K/9 - 8.6 K/BB- 4.55 WAR - 7.0 (leads both hitters and pitchers) What will work against him is the bias against pitchers winning MVP that some writers have, doesn't have a sexy W-L record, and Andrew McCutchen (.900 OPS for the play off bound Pirates)

  18. MLB.TV now accepting political ads?

I am in Massachusetts for a wedding tomorrow so I was using my MLB.TV account to watch White Sox/Tampa and Detroit/Minnesota. Now usually MLB.TV gives a graphic saying commercial break in progress for some reason I was getting local Boston commercials on both feeds. Same 3 commercials every half inning - Bob's Furniture, Corona Beer and Elizabeth Warren. What gives? My wi-fi connection is from Comcast

  19. Phillies Firing Manuel Mid-Season Was Classless

I need to rant, so hi. I hate the Phillies. They're second on my list behind Boston. But their management should NOT have fired a guy who has brought five straight division titles and a world championship to them in what? 30 years? The Phillies were out of this race awhile ago. There was no point in firing a loyal guy in Manuel 6 weeks before the season ends. Amaro probably ranks as one of the worst GM's in history. He is the guy who should be fired.
