Forum: Around The Majors

Post anything related to baseball. If it doesn't fit in the Yankees Discussion forum, it fits here.

  1. Why Donnie, why?

If you were Mattingly would you want to stay as manager of the Dodgers after the way they treated him or move on to another club like Seattle or Detroit? What do you the rest of you think?

  2. How Come ESPN's Keith Law Has Hughes Ahead Of Nathan On His Free Agent List?

How come Keith Law thinks Phil Hughes is better than Joe Nathan? Nathan is one of the best closers ever. He's tied for tenth in career saves, and of the top eleven in career saves he ranks third in career ERA behind Rivera and Billy Wagner. Nathan's career ERA is better than Hughes's ERA in any season.

Its not what I was rooting for, but its the two best teams and if Miggy is getting healthy they can knock off the Sox. Go Tigers!

  11. NLDS: Pirates vs Cardinals

I'm watching Game 1 and what a shocker, AJ Burnett implodes in the 3rd inning, who could have seen that coming? 7 Runs in, all in the 3rd inning, and still nobody out, and it all started by walking the leadoff hitter who was the pitcher. Mercifully AJ was finally yanked with a runner on 2nd and still nobody out. Typical AJ

  13. Dusty Baker fired

http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9767640/dusty-baker-cincinnati-reds-manager-sources-say Now we all have strong opinions on Dusty. He is very ignorant about a lot of things but the fact remains that his teams win (though not in the play offs). I think he won't be unemployed for to long.

Don't think there is one. Just showing some love for the Tribe....2.5 games out on July 30 and 57-48....lead the majors in shutout wins (14)...playing well. :) Who would have thunk it? Not that they receive any respect/love from ESPN... Love Kipnis, Masterson, Swisher, Bourne and Rayburn....and love this highlight from last night: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2013_07_29_chamlb_clemlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=cle#gid=2013_07_29_chamlb_clemlb_1&mode=video

  19. Will we see another 300 game winner?

Of all the active players, there are only a few who right now have a chance at 300 wins: CC Sabathia: Age 32, 205 career wins. To get to 300, he would have to average: 11.875 wins if he pitches to Age 40; 13.5 wins if he pitches to Age 39; 15.83 wins if he pitches to Age 38; 19 wins if he pitches to Age 37. Probability, about 50% Tim Hudson: Age 37, 205 Career wins. Five years older than Sabathia. In the expansion era (1961-present) only seven pitchers gave gotten 95 wins after their...
