  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: Autograph signings website

For those of you who are interested in memorabilia shows (not just baseball) for the entire country this is the best website that I have seen. www.signingshotline.com

One of our newer forumers offered to share some photos, but didn't have enough posts to start a new one. Babe, this thread's for you -- post away. :)

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: Autograph Alert Website

Hey folks...This is a great website for autograph news. They've also been exposing the falacies of the third party authenticators claiming to be the "industry leading experts" such as JSA, GAI, PSA/DNA and others... http://www.autographalert.com/news.html Very good info!! Here is one of their recent news items... <DT style="FONT-FAMILY: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif"><CENTER><DT style="FONT-FAMILY: Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif">Wasting Money On The So-Called <DT style="FONT-FAMILY:...

  1. Has a Rookie Ever Won an ERA Title?

After Tampa Bay plays in Saturday, Tyler Glasnow will not have enough innings to qualify. Charlie Morton raised his ERA from 2.32 to 2.65, which moved Justin Verlander to second behind Glasnow in ERA, with Detroit's Spencer Turnbull in third. Verlander has a 2.38 ERA, and Turnbull has a 2.40 ERA. Turnbull is a rookie who went 0-2 in 16 1/3 innings last September. I'm not saying Turnbull will win it, but if he even leads at some point in May or later, that's surprising.

  2. Reaching 250 Wins and 3,500 Innings in the Same Year

With 248 wins and 3,500 1/3 innings, Sabathia will hopefully reach 250 wins and 3,500 this year. Here are the players who did that: 1. Randy Johnson of the Yankees in 2005 2. Tom Glavine of the Mets in 2003 3. Roger Clemens of the Yankees in 2000

  3. A Unique Felix Fermin Fact

Before Steinbrenner wanted to trade Rivera for Felix Fermin, Fermin did something rare, and I'm going to try to find out how rare. On September 4, 1993, Jim Abbott pitched a no-hitter hosting Cleveland. Fermin batted second for Cleveland, and made 5 outs, which was possible because the first batter of the game was Kenny Lofton, who walked, and Fermin grounded into a double play. Many players only get 3 plate appearances when their teams get no hit, so to get 4 plate appearances and make more...

  4. Has a Team Ever Had Three Teammates Lead the Triple Crown Categories?

Houston has Josh Reddick tied for first in batting average at .333, Michael Brantley third at .329, George Springer first in home runs with 16, Alex Bregman second in home runs with 14, and Springer first in RBI with 40, which is 3 above Domingo Santana. All of those ranks are within the AL. Have three teammates ever led their league in one of the categories each?

  5. All-Star, MVP or Cy Young but not All-Star, All-Star

Felix Hernandez was an All-Star in 2009, won Cy Young without being an All-Star in 2010, and was an All-Star in 2011 (and every year through 2015). Does anybody know of other players with three consecutive seasons in which they were All-Stars in the first and third ones and won MVP or Cy Young without being an All-Star in between.

  6. Who am I?

I've played for New York, Detroit and Minnesota teams. I also spent a lot of time playing in Newark and even Tennessee, and also out of this country. I was born in Virginia a long time ago. I turned twenty in my first season of pro ball. I batted and threw right-handed. Some have called me diminutive. I was kind of bow-legged but that didn't matter ... cause many people think I was one of the best defensive third basemen in the history baseball - in any league. I was kind of flashy out...

  7. Players Who Were All-Stars Once and Won MVP or Cy Young That Season

Michael Kay quoted Steve Stone, who won the 1980 AL Cy Young Award. That was the only time he was an All-Star, and the only time he got any MVP or Cy Young votes.

According to baseballreference: The Scooter is the best defensive player in Yankee history. Not bad for the little guy. 14. What's The Hardest Last Week of a Season in Yankees History?

The Yankees end at Tampa Bay and Boston, who have the two best home winning percentages in MLB other than the Yankees. What's the hardest last week of a season the Yankees have ever had? I'm talking about the difficulty of the opponents without considering how good the Yankees were than year or how they did in that week.

  15. Best Careers by Hitters Who Never Played Enough to Qualify in One Year

Hitters need 502.2 plate appearances to qualify (I've seen 502 be listed as okay even though 502 is less than 502.2). 3.1 plate appearances per team game in 154 games would have been 477.4. Steve Pearce's career-high is 383. He has 89 home runs, 283 RBI, 278 runs, and 543 hits. Does anybody know of a player with more than that in any of those categories without having enough plate appearances in any year?

  16. Have Other Teams Clinched The Yankees Division at Yankee Stadium?

After the Yankees last home game against Boston, the Yankees will have 10 games left and Boston will have 9 games left. In order to clinch the division at Yankee Stadium, Boston would need to lead by at least 10.5. Boston has 13 of their next 23 games at home, and 8 of the 13 are against teams below .500. Does anybody know if a team has ever clinched the Yankees division (or the AL before divisions) while at Yankee Stadium? It counts if a team lost at Yankee Stadium and clinched because...

  19. Being on Both Sides of a No-Hitter in One Year

The Philadelphia Athletics' Bill McCahan pitched a complete game loss (although the bottom of the ninth wasn't necessary) when Cleveland's Don Black pitched a no-hitter on July 10, 1947 in Game 1 of a doubleheader. On September 3, 1947, McCahan pitched a no-hitter against Washington. Does anybody know of another pitcher who pitched a no-hitter and started a game his team got no-hit in one year?
