One of our newer forumers offered to share some photos, but didn't have enough posts to start a new one. Babe, this thread's for you -- post away. :)

  1. Does anyone remember a Yankee reliever named Fred Beane

Maybe from the 70's or 80's? I tried looking him up but can't find him. Do I have the right name?

  3. Game #7 1952 World Series

This is just an amazing ball game. Game 7 of the 1952 World Series. I was at the edge of my seat EVEN knowing the wonderful outcome. And Billy still makes the catch! So, if you want "smooth sailing and smooth shaving" enter the time machine!

  4. Four vintage photographs of Lou Gehrig with a bat and wearing Yankee pinstripes

... for sale, if you have the $7,500. If you don't, just enjoy the images online. They are from 1929, the first year for numbers on the uniform. The collector sleuthed out the year from the number 32 sported by Arndt Jorgens, the backup catcher behind the plate. https://www.19thshop.com/book/a-wonderful-collection-of-four-photographs-of-lou-gehrig-with-a-bat-and-wearing-yankee-pinstripes/

On January 11, 1973, the owners of America’s 24 major league baseball teams vote to allow teams in the American League (AL) to use a “designated pinch-hitter” that could bat for the pitcher, while still allowing the pitcher to stay in the game. 8. New Audio of Lou Gehrig Discussing the Babe's Called Shot

First of all, let me just say that any audio of Lou Gehrig is simply incredible. He was such a brilliant, well-spoken man. If you've never heard it, I strongly recommend you give a listen to this radio interview from August 1939, after his retirement and famous speech. By prior agreement he did not discuss his health, but hearing him talk about the game is a rare and precious treat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX5eoiQzXwQ Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I just stumbled across...

  9. November 21: Stan Musial Centenary

One of baseball's really great hitters. If he had played with the Yankees back in the 1940s and 1950s, he would, today, be up there in baseball mythology with Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, and Mantle.

  10. Yankees Whose First Game at Yankee Stadium Was After They Left

Toronto put Rowdy Tellez on the IL and called up Billy McKinney. McKinney made his MLB debut for the Yankees at Toronto on March 30, 2018. The next day, he got injured in LF in the bottom of the first. On July 26, 2018, the Yankees traded Brandon Drury and McKinney for Happ. On August 18, he played his first MLB game since his injury, and it was for Toronto at the Yankees. If he enters today's game, he will have played for the Yankees but never at home and have faced the Yankees in two...

  11. Most Teams Played For by a Player With an MLB Debut at 30 or Older

I just saw that Erik Kratz is 40. I knew he was old by MLB standards, but I didn't know he was that old. He made his MLB had 30 years and 32 days old, and he's played for nine teams. He's played for the Yankees and both Pennsylvania teams nonconsecutively, meaning that he's changed teams 11 times, and that doesn't include changing organizations while in the minors. He played in three organizations in the minors but not MLB, and including minor league time he was in Toronto's organization...

  16. When do these guys get their Monument Park glory?

I’m sure the Yanks are taking a break after inducting the Core 4 a few years back, but I’m still amazed at a bunch of legends still on the outside looking in: Hall of Famers: Just about all of the ones left that don’t fall into the category of “well he’s in for another franchise” like Dave Winfield and Rickey Henderson, are from the 1920s teams, so are they waiting on the Golden Anniversary for Waite Hoyt, Earle Combs and Herb Pennock to get Monument Park plaques added to their Cooperstown...

Boston's Brandon Workman went 10-1 (.909). In 2014, he went 1-10 (.091), for a gap of .818. Excluding seasons with only wins or only losses, do any other pitchers have that big a gap between their best and worst season winning percentages?
