Forum: Player Performance Threads

All your mega-thread goodness is right here. (Formerly Inside the Lines)

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE – New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a relaunch of our...

  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: Does it Belong in a Mega-Thread or Should it Get its Own Thread?

The mega-threads, i.e "The Official Player X Performance Thread" have their purpose for discussions such as general commentary and analysis about the players or their performance in recent games. In addition, we don't want users to start a new thread for every little thought about a particular player or game. However, there are some topics that are important enough to have their own thread. We encourage users to start new threads about players or the team when there's something newsworthy. ...

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: When Posting About the Yankees Management...

We tried to give everyone a little extra leeway the past week or so to allow everyone to vent, but now that things have calmed down a little I would just like to remind everyone that the community standards apply not just regarding posts about players or your fellow users, but also when you're posting about those in Yankees management. We encourage everyone to post their opinions freely, positive or negative, about the Yankees management or anything else, but please make sure to do so in an...

  2. 2019 CC Sabathia Performance Thread

Today he pitched 4 2/3 innings for Tampa hosting Lakeland. He pitched 4 2/3 innings with 1 hit, 1 run that was earned, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts. The only hit he allowed was a single by second baseman Kody Clemens, who is the youngest of Roger's four children. Considering that Kody is in A Advanced and this is Sabathia's last year, I bet Kody wasn't expecting to get a hit off CC. Sabathia left down 1-0 and was replaced by Janson Junk. No MLB player has had the first or last name "Junk." A...

  3. 2019 Stephen Tarpley Performance Thread

He's back in MLB after being on the Opening Day roster and being sent down without a topic. His innings, runs, earned runs, hits, and walks are the same in MLB and for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=tarple000ste has his statistics.

  4. 2019 Cameron Maybin Performance Thread

Cameron Maybin is an outfielder who has played mostly center. I wonder if the Yankees will put him in center, Gardner in left, and Tauchman in right. He was acquired from Cleveland for cash. https://twitter.com/Yankees/status/1121489062551011328 is a welcome tweet by the Yankees. He played for San Francisco in Spring Training and was released. So far he played for Cleveland's AAA team in Columbus. He batted .216 there with no home runs and low RBI and run rates. The good thing is that he...

  5. 2019 Tyler Wade Performance Thread

He got sent down to make room for Loaisiga, so I don't when he will perform next. His .520 OPS is the second-worst among Yankees with any amount of plate appearances who aren't pitchers. Andujar has a .379 OPS.

  6. 2019 David Hale Performance Thread

David Hale was added to both rosters. Cortes Jr. was sent down, and Andujar went on the 60 day IL, which now has 9 players. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/haleda02.shtml has Hale's statistics. He's 3-1 with a 4.11 ERA in 6 starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  7. 2019 Aroldis Chapman Performance Thread

He won AL Reliever of the Month in May before getting a topic here. In May, he allowed 1 earned run in 11 1/3 innings for a 0.79 ERA with 11 saves and no blown saves or losses.

  8. 2019 Giancarlo Stanton Performance Thread

He hit a three-run homer in SWB's 16-3 loss at Durham. Durham's Jake Cronenworth had a home run, triple, double, and 2 walks, but no single. Only 9 MLB players from 1908 to the present have done that. Of those players, Carlos Santana is the only active one, and Willie Mays is the best one.

  9. 2019 Cory Gearrin Performance Thread

He was waived by Seattle with a 3.92 ERA. He's 33, and he has a 3.59 career ERA. He's pitched for Atlanta, San Francisco, Texas, Oakland, and Seattle. This year his problem is walks, with 4.6 per 9 innings. His 8.3 hits per 9 innings and 0.7 home runs per 9 innings are good. He's allowed 3 home runs in 41 1/3 innings. With 48 games, he averages 0.86 innings per game, and he's a righty so he isn't a LOOGY. He made his first 2 career starts this year, but they were 1 inning each as an...

  10. 2019 Ryan Dull Performance Thread

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dullry01.shtml has his statistics. He's 29, and he made his MLB debut on September 1, 2015. His only MLB team is Oakland, and he had a 3.63 career ERA through last year, including a 2.42 ERA in 2016, which was his season with the most innings. He allowed 12 earned runs in 9 innings in 7 games for Oakland this year, and his last MLB game was on June 8. He could face his former team in Oakland and/or hosting Oakland on the next homestand.

  11. 2019 Michael King Performance Thread

He was added to replace German. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=king--000mik has his Boston College and minor league statistics. He's 24, and he hasn't pitched in MLB yet. He was drafted by Miami. On November 20, 2017, the Yankees traded Garrett Cooper and Caleb Smith (both of whom were better than average this year) for King and international bonus slot money. This year he had only 46 minor league innings in 11 games including 8 starts. In 4 games including 3...

  12. 2019 Tyler Lyons Performance Thread

His regular season ERA was 4.15 for us, 11.25 for Pittsburgh, and 6.39 combined. That was enough to get him on the postseason roster over Montgomery, Hale, Heller, Cortes Jr., Gearrin, and others. He's a lefty, and he could be used as a LOOGY or a mop-up man. He pitched 11 games for the Yankees without getting a topic here. I wonder if he's the first player to get his first topic during the postseason.

  17. 2019 DJ LeMahieu Performance Thread

Love this dude. I’m glad he started off well. I spent a lot of time defending him at the time of the acquisition. I was thrilled we got him, and surprised at the amount of hate it got. He’s an almost super utility guy and gets on base. What a really good day today. He made like 3 sick plays and another 2 really good ones. If Voit had picked that one throw late in the game it would have been a web gem. First time I’ve ever made a player performance thread! Glad I got to do it with a player I...

  18. 2019 Luke Voit Performance Thread

One game in. 1-for-1, with a run, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 2 walks and 1 HBP. That's an OPS of 1.000, a SLG of 4.000, and an OPS of 5.000. Not a bad start.
