All your mega-thread goodness is right here. (Formerly Inside the Lines)

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE – New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a relaunch of our...

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: When Posting About the Yankees Management...

We tried to give everyone a little extra leeway the past week or so to allow everyone to vent, but now that things have calmed down a little I would just like to remind everyone that the community standards apply not just regarding posts about players or your fellow users, but also when you're posting about those in Yankees management. We encourage everyone to post their opinions freely, positive or negative, about the Yankees management or anything else, but please make sure to do so in an...

  4. Sticky Thread Sticky: Does it Belong in a Mega-Thread or Should it Get its Own Thread?

The mega-threads, i.e "The Official Player X Performance Thread" have their purpose for discussions such as general commentary and analysis about the players or their performance in recent games. In addition, we don't want users to start a new thread for every little thought about a particular player or game. However, there are some topics that are important enough to have their own thread. We encourage users to start new threads about players or the team when there's something newsworthy. ...

  1. 2020 Masahiro Tanaka Performance Thread

In honor of his fantastic 2nd start of 2020, I figured now would be a good time to start his own thread. Looks like he picked up left right where he left off after last years post-season. I have to think his new wind up might be helping. He's high on my "must re-sign" list right now.

  3. 2020 Giancarlo Stanton Performance Thread

Looks like his stance is a little less closed and he's shed some unnecessary bulk, which should give him more flexibility and help keep his legs sound. I like it! If he can only lay off the pitches away.

  6. 2020 Brian Cashman Performance Thread

Ha, I got the spelling of your first name right this time.;) Well Brian, your team, health-wise is off to a rough start in spring training, but I still believe you have the best team in the AL. I'm wishing you and your team good luck going forward. Judge must wonder what it takes to get his thread going. He's a streaky hitter for sure. Pulling the ball quite a bit early on, much more than he usually does.

  10. 2020 Gerrit Cole Performance Thread

The Yankees new ace starter is expected to have a big year in 2020 pitching on the biggest contract a pitcher has ever signed for the team he grew up idolizing, but he just announced to the world today that it's going to be even bigger for him than any of us knew - his wife is due in June with their first child. 2020 has the potential to be thoroughly epic for Gerrit.

  12. Jordan Montgomery 2020 thread

Let's get it going. Very encouraging. Looked great in innings 1 and 2, scuffled in 3 and 4 but was able to make the pitches to minimize damage, breezed through inning 5, probably could have gotten through 6 but I have no kick with Boone bringing in Green with 2 outs. Just a hunch but I have a feeling he's going to turn out to be important. Maybe not Pettitte 1996 important, but important.

  13. 2020 Gleyber Torres Performance Thread

What's up with Torres? Is it something like this: "They started hitting him third, and he tried to hit home runs,’’ a scout said. “He is not the same guy. The swing has gotten longer." https://nypost.com/2020/08/11/yankees-trade-strategy-is-becoming-clear-ahead-of-mlb-deadline/ Or is it just one of those passing things? As to the scout's comments, surely we weren't expecting a potential 40-HR guy when the Yankees acquired Torres.

Yes I understand about the vesting option. For one day today while the team is on a 7 game losing streak he went 7.1 scoreless with no walks. KUDOS.

  16. 2020 Gio Urshela Performance Thread

Yesterday he became the fifth Yankee to have a grand slam, stolen base, and walk. The previous Yankee to do that hit only 6 home runs for the Yankees, and that was Miguel Cairo on August 12, 2004. The only Yankees to do that were Bernie Williams on August 8, 2009, Tim Raines on July 18, 1998, and Willie Randolph on July 21, 1979.

  17. 2020 Deivi Garcia Performance Thread

He's the 29th man for today's doubleheader and starting Game 2*. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=garcia000dei has his minor league statistics. He made his minor league debut in 2016. Last year he had a 3.06 ERA in four starts for Tampa, a 3.86 ERA in 11 starts for Trenton, and a 5.40 ERA in 11 games of which 6 were starts for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (hereafter SWB). He had 13.3 strikeouts per 9 innings last year, which were almost half of his outs. His strikeouts...

  19. 2020 DJ LeMahieu Performance Thread

Not fair that "The Machine" doesn't have his own performance thread - so here it is. The odds are waaaay against it, but wouldn't it be exciting if he could go into September over .400? I'm still torn as to whether the Yanks should commit mega-dollars towards signing him after the season. Anything more than three years might be a deal-breaker for me. Does 3yrs/$72M sound enticing enough? My guess is some club will gladly offer more years. And would that money be better spent on other...

  20. 2020 Clarke Schmidt Thread

He's a horizontal fastball guy. I don't see him succeeding with that as a power pitcher. It's the same issue as Mike King. Horizontal fastballs get hit, and additionally if you are a groundball pitcher, you need good infield defense, and the Yankees don't have that. If you are going to be a power/strikeout guy, you need a vertical moving/rising fastball like Cole or Deivi. Instead Schmidt has negative movement on his 4 seamer, and above average movement on his sinker that has gotten...
