Forum: Around The Minors

Who's coming up? Who's going down? What's happening with the Yankees Minor League clubs?

  1. Our Farm Has Been Saved!

Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Alan "The Deal Breaker" Horne is pitching for Trenton tonight! I think I was more worried about what we could lose than about what we could get. What say you all? Relieved?

  5. What is Phil Coke's future?

I saw him pitch earlier this year and he pitched 6 scoreless innings. And everytime I look at the boxscore the kid seems to be shutting people down. As a lefty does he have an MLB future at all? I know he is older now but since that is the case shouldn't the Yankees be trying to move him up. At least to AA by the end of the year to see if they have anything with him.

  6. Alan Horne's meteoric rise into the upper ranks of baseball prospects

It may seem like it happens overnight, but sometimes a prospect finally fulfills their promise after everything comes together for them (seemingly all at once - or, over night). The great Sandy Koufax didn't put it all together until he was nearly 26 years old. Other examples of high level major league performers who put it together well into their twenties, dot the baseball pantheon of greats.
Every year a baseball prospect, still in the minors, begins to fullfill his talent and catches the...

  10. Joba to be called up next week?

http://emedia.thetimes-tribune.com/Blogs/SWBYankees/tabid/552/Default.aspx Chamberlain preparing to travel By cjennings(S T-T) : I'll have more on this in the paper tomorrow, but here's the quick version of what happened with Joba Chamberlain before today's game in Rochester. Roughly two hours before the first pitch, Chamberlain left for New York to get a passport. As he packed his stuff, having just been told of the unexpected trip, Chamberlain said that he would be making his second...

  12. Yankees move Chamberlain to the Bullpen in Scranton

per Michael Kay just now on the YES telecast of the Yankees/Orioles game.
Kay speculated this move may forshadow a promotion of Joba Chamberlain to the Yankees as their late innings setup man for Rivera - and may be supported by the Yankees moving one or another of their current major league relievers before the trading deadline.

  13. July 2007 all purpose prospect progress reports

I'm looking forward to continued progress from Austin Jackson the CF of the A+ Tampa Yankee, and his teammate Jose Tabata.
I'm also looking forward to the continued progress of the AA starting pitchers, particularly Chamberlain and Horne. It looks like Brett Gardner is picking up the pace as the centerfielder for that Trenton Thunder team.
And of course I am looking forward to continuing progress reports out of the short season A Staten Island Yankees with 19 year old pitching prospect...

  16. So, Anyone Miss Mark Hutton and Bobby Munoz?

After watching Hughes and Joba over the last two nights, I was reminded of the last time we had two "power" pitching prospects. The Yanks have come a long way in player evaluation and certainly pitching depth since those days.

  18. Trenton Times: Joba and Kennedy are Scranton-bound

http://blog.nj.com/timesupdates/2007/07/thunder_fall_to_erie.html Despite a strong outing by Thunder starter Jason Jones, the Erie SeaWolves came away with a 4-2 triumph Monday night at Waterfront Park. Jones allowed just one run with five strikeouts in five innings, but a pair of errors left him on the wrong side of a 3-1 deficit. The Thunder scored a run in the fourth on singles by Alberto Gonzalez and Noah Hall and a throwing error. They added another in the eighth when Gonzalez...
