Forum: Around The Minors

Who's coming up? Who's going down? What's happening with the Yankees Minor League clubs?

  1. Should Yanks Sign Dee Brown??

The Rays released Dee Brown today which doesn't bode well for him.Should the Yanks take a flyer on the once top prospect of the Royals?Dee is a local product of Marlboro NY.Dee has had some Attitude problems in the past but do you think he's worth a look see for a minor league deal at this point?

  3. Sean Henn...

This is a make or break year for Henn.I feel his best role would be as a relief pitcher.I have seen Sean and he's tall but slight of build and seems to lose gas as the game goes on leaving me to fill he should pitch in relief this year.I understand building up his arm strength last year but IMO he could be a poor mans BJ Ryan.Henn can still get it up in the mid 90's .Guys that can throw that hard from the left are worth the wait sometimes.JMO Whats yours??

  4. Columbus Clippers vs. Durham Bulls

I finally got my tix to go see the Clippers versus the Durham Bulls. Got good seats behind home plate. In all my years of attending games, this is my very first minor league game. What should I expect? I've been to many minor league hockey games (AHL & ECHL) and I have always enjoyed the player's drive when they played. Is this the same in AAA?

  8. The Laest on the Trenton (AA) Lineup and Roster

Found this in the Trenton paper. A few suprises like Thompson and where both he and Sardihna will play. Good reading. http://www.nj.com/thunder/times/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1111914317229890.xml

  9. Minor Preview

Yankees organization report 03/29/2005 8:00 AM ET By Jonathan Mayo / MLB.com The Yankees' farm system has withered recently, as trades and free agents were used to fill gaps. Over the last few drafts, however, New York has replenished its minor league squads, and hope to utilize their talent in the next couple of years. http://www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/emailArticleServlet?aid=403825

  10. Duncan #11 on the Sporting News Prospect Rankings

    11. Eric Duncan, 3B, Yankees, Age: 20 Duncan is the best prospect in the Yankee system and the only prospect in the Yankee system (with apologies to Robinson Cano) worth mentioning. A first-rounder in 2003, Duncan boasts good bat speed, raw power and polished hitting skills. His defense needs work at this point, but there's no reason he can't stick at third long-term. Last season, despite being only 19 years of age, he showed good raw power in the Midwest and Florida State Leagues and made...

  12. The Yankees Are Coming!

While riding down the interstate, I saw a lovely billboard with a pinstripe background with the words "The Yankees Are Coming". (Our minor league team The Charleston Riverdogs is affiliated this year). There are so many people moaning and groaning around here it's not funny (especially all the Boston fans who seemed to come out of the woodwork). However, I love it! :D :NY: :D :NY: :D :NY: :D :NY: :D

  13. Bubby news

TOUGH CALL: Bubba Crosby performed well all spring, but it might not have been enough to land him the backup center field job when camp breaks. Crosby, who was shuttled back and forth between New York and Class AAA Columbus last season, has a minor league option remaining, so his fate may be the same in 2005. A solid outfielder with a mix of speed and power, Crosby will likely be the first guy called up this year should the team suffer an injury.

  14. Cano in the Spring

Was Cano sent to Columbus? Haven't seen him in awhile. Anyway, he went 5/14, all singles. No walks. Seemed to play decent 2B.

  15. Stotts wants to be released

Looks like there are more disgruntled guys at Trenton. With Rifkin gone, JT Stotts takes over. Does this guy have a legitamite gripe? http://www.nj.com/thunder/times/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1111828183252750.xml

  19. Yankees sign Ramiro Pena

The Yankees signed 19-year-old shortstop Ramiro Pena out of Mexico to a minor league contract, with a $125,000 bonus. Pena immediately improves the organization’s depth at shortstop. Pena, a switch-hitter, comes from an athletic background, as his father and uncle both played for the Mexican League’s Monterrey Sultans, and he’s considered an above-average defender. He was expected to start the season in extended spring training, then join short-season Staten Island. He gives the Yankees another...
