  1. Poll: Poll: Dick Vitale?

Although I respect Vitale, and understand that his enthusiasm is genuine, I still am years past the point where I can listen to him do an entire game. He just wears me out, and his penchant for discussing anything but what is happening on the floor until the last two minutes drives me nuts. Frankly, I don't know very much about basketball, and a good analyst can really enhance my appreciation for the game. Anyhow, flail away.

  2. NHL to cancel season Friday?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=1983362 An NHL team owner who is requesting anonymity said that -- barring a major, unforeseen turnaround -- he expects the league to make an announcement canceling the rest of the 2004-05 season either after Thursday's meeting or Friday, EJ Hradek of ESPN the Magazine has learned. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA Executive Director Bob Goodenow returned to the bargaining table Thursday. The two weren't present at a series of informal...

  3. Fix the Knicks in the offseason.

I know the Knick horrible downfall makes it seem like the team will never win but I think with a few minor moves we can be competitive next season. 1. Trade TT + Sweetney + Vin Baker to the Pacers for Ron Artest and a 1st round pick This may be unpopular, but with later trades that I make, Sweetney becomes unneccesary and the extra 1st round pick we can pick up 2 good college or foreign players in the first round. With our lottery pick we might even get a top 10 player. Artest toughens...

  5. Rudy T resigns as Lakers head coach

Okay, besides Lakers suck... :P Anyhow, I'm surprised no one has posted this yet. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1982487 ESPN.com news services EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Rudy Tomjanovich resigned midway through his first season as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, citing health reasons. L.A. general manager Mitch Kupchak met with Tomjanovich at his home Monday after the coach missed Sunday's game because he did not feel well. Their conversation led Kupchak to believe...

  7. Espn U

I thought this deserves its own thread seeing as how it'll be a new sports network and all. ESPN is launching ESPN U on march 4 to coincide with Championship Week. The newtork will offer college sports programming... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=1951755 I like the idea of a network dedicated to collegiate sports. The article says they will show collegiate baseball, softball, wrestling and other sports. I think this is an awesome idea to get some lesser publicized...

  8. Vince Carter to.....NETS!!!

I just read that Vince Carter might be traded to the New Jersey Nets!?!?! The trade would send Alanzo Mourning, Arron and Eric Williams, plus two draft picks to the Raptors. The Nets get Vince Carter. Intresting deal. It could happen by the end of the day. I am stunned. I thought that Rattner wasn't going to spend a dime on the Nets. Here is the article on it- http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1948449

  9. Arena Football Thread

Hey everyone, Who in here likes Arena Football? What's your opinion on the game? Who's your favorite team (s)? And who will win ArenaBowl 19 in Las Vegas? I'm a huge arena football fan. The game is exciting since it is built for offense, but it is mostly a passing game. The only time teams in the Arena Footbal League run the ball is inside the 5 yard line or melting the clock. I got a lot of Arena football teams, but the San Jose Sabercats is my ultimate favorite team. I pick the...

  10. Winter X anyone?

I'll admit it. I'm absolutely hooked! I can't get enough of this stuff. Here's hopin ESPN7 will be a full time EXPN network. I like the winter sports better then the summer ones. Snowboarding, skier x, slopestyle, and especially the psycho's who do big air on the motorbikes. It's great. And girls snowboarding are always hot. I won't argue about this. It's just a fact.

  12. Roger Federer ist Gott

I don't know how many of you follow tennis, but I've been watching Roger for a while now and am pleased to see that he has finally grown into his own, a more than formidable player. I did like him a little better, though, back when you could get good odds - he was -10000 (!) against Suzuki. While I don't think that he'll ever win four slams in a year, because of his struggles on clay and the amount of talent in tennis, I do think that he'll begin to have a stranglehold on the #1 ranking,...

  14. The Chicago Bulls have won 4 in a row...

and by posting this I just ruined any chance they will win 5. ;) As a Bulls fan I'm excited to see this team win 4 in a Row. I really don't think I've had much to be happy about since Jordan/Pippen/Jackson left. 8 - 15 might not be the best record but it's not last place!! Improvement! YES! :D Any other Bulls fans?

  15. Lenny Wilkens resigned!

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1972802 Lenny Wilkens resigned as coach of the New York Knicks on Saturday, likely ending his Hall of Fame career after barely a year with his hometown team. The 67-year-old Wilkens had two years and $10 million left on his contract. The resignation, the first time Wilkens has stepped down or been fired during a season, followed a lengthy meeting with Isiah Thomas after the Knicks' last-second home loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night. ...

  18. Manute Bol - A Class Act

We all used to laugh at Manute Bol. It turns out that he should be one of our most admired ex-athletes. In case you didn't know, he has raised over $3,500,000 for his homeland tribe in Sudan as they try to survive a civil war. He let himself be ridiculed as he tried to play hockey to raise funds. He let us howl at him as he boxed Refrigerator Perry on TV, just so he could win the money for his tribe. He is virtually penniless now, having given all of his money away to help his kin in Sudan....

  20. Any figure skating fans here?

I don't understand the new scoring system (the 6.0 system is being discontinued). It was very sad that the skater Angela Nicodinov's mother was killed in a car accident on the way from the airport to the arena. So touching to see Angela there at the rink supporting her teammates, and how they would look up at her and wave or give a thumbs-up when they finished their programs. Michelle Kwan was good, although not up to her usual excellence. Sasha Cohen has continued her inconsistency....
