Lewis says he wants to fight Klitschko again
Almost a year after he retired, former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis says he wants to get back into the ring in November to fight Vitali Klitschko, holder of the WBC title he relinquished.
We all used to laugh at Manute Bol. It turns out that he should be one of our most admired ex-athletes. In case you didn't know, he has raised over $3,500,000 for his homeland tribe in Sudan as they try to survive a civil war. He let himself be ridiculed as he tried to play hockey to raise funds. He let us howl at him as he boxed Refrigerator Perry on TV, just so he could win the money for his tribe. He is virtually penniless now, having given all of his money away to help his kin in Sudan....
New Mexico coach Lou Henson retires due to health reasons.
I heard about him coaching basketball games from a wheelchair. Great story.
I don't understand the new scoring system (the 6.0 system is being discontinued).
It was very sad that the skater Angela Nicodinov's mother was killed in a car accident on the way from the airport to the arena. So touching to see Angela there at the rink supporting her teammates, and how they would look up at her and wave or give a thumbs-up when they finished their programs.
Michelle Kwan was good, although not up to her usual excellence. Sasha Cohen has continued her inconsistency....
Hey I was wondering what you guys think of Coach Roberts so far. He was an assistant here last year (University of Kansas) and was a really cool guy. Always accomodating to the student media and always friendly on campus. I think he recruited Russell Robinson to KU, who's having a fantastic freshman year. Anyways I think it's a great hire and hopefully he'll help out with the NYC recruiting pipeline.
Here you go Nascar Fans
I cracked up when I heard this on the radio:
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Who didn't let the dog out?
A stink was raised during halftime of the Detroit Pistons-Orlando Magic NBA game on Tuesday night when the start of the second half was delayed by three minutes after a seeing-eye dog relieved itself on the court.
The dog was with a charity organization, Canine Companions for Independence, that was receiving a $10,000 donation from the Orlando...
NHL players have been told not to expect the league to resume play this season, and possibly next season, according to a report in the Ottawa Sun.
Sources told the paper Friday that NHL Players' Association executive director Bob Goodenow told players they not only should accept any current job offers in Europe immediately, they should take offers for next season, as well. The message was delivered via an audio recording posted on the...
Its taken years for me to come up with this system.
In the last two weeks in college ball betting 'against the spread' I have gone 28-9
In the NFL 8-3
What I'm doing is this: What have the 2 teams done, home team today-road team today......AGAINST THIS SPREAD.....for the last 3 years.
Total record regardless of who they are playing.
An example would be the Jets game against the niners week before last.
NHL cancels planned BOG meeting
NEW YORK (CP) - It's official. There's nothing to talk about in the NHL labour dispute.
OK so who gets the prestigous title of biggest bum in sports for 2004?
A seven-year-old NY boy was at the center of
a courtroom drama this morning when he challenged
a court ruling over who should have custody of him.
The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents
so the judge awarded custody to his aunt. The boy
confirmed that his aunt beat him more than his
parents and refused to live there.
It's official: The Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets hate each other.
I got this e-mail from a buddy and thought it was pretty fitting:
This is intended not to upset fans of tennis, basketball, football or baseball. It is, rather, an attempt to put everything in its proper perspective. Ever wonder why golf is growing in popularity and why people who don't even play go to tournaments or watch it on TV? The following truisms may shed some light:
Golf is an honorable game, with the overwhelming majority of players being honorable people who...
Let's Go Trojans!!! I have $100 riding on this. :gulp:
Congrats on winning your 700th career game, Coach K, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski.
He has stood what was right for college basketball, smart move in stayin' in the college ranks and not joinin' the Lakers.
College Football fans,
Here's a great article of the review of the 2004-2005 college football season:
My Top 3 games of the bowl season (dramatic wise):
1. Texas-Michigan Rose Bowl
2. Iowa-LSU CapitalOne Bowl
3. Louisville-Boise State Liberty Bowl
Alright kids. I know there are several smart, intelligent, knowledgeable sports fans and also some OU fans as well (JUT KIDDING). But I thought we could have a thread to debate the upcomming slugfest.
I'd like to direct my first comment to Misti (I think she said it??) regarding USC getting all the awards yet OU will win the game. I'm thinking OU has gotten more awards this year than USC....no?
