  1. Empire Maker wins Florida Derby

I was very impressed with the way Empire Maker finished the race. He was full of run and he looked like he could easily handle the mile and a quarter distance of the Kentucky Derby. It was a great race, sadly marred by the fatal breakdown of Midway Cat. Damn, I hate to see that happen. :( Anyway, it's a long way to the Derby, with a lot of major preps still to go, but as of now I like Empire Maker a lot. A runaway for Empire Maker By MIKE WELSCH HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Empire...

  2. Giants Cut Sehorn!

The most overpaid, underwhelming player in the NFL is looking for work! Maybe if he spent more time paying attention to the game and less time looking for Angie Harmon in the stands it would not have come to this. Yes, it is a huge cap it, but IMHO it is worth it.

  3. Flyers acquire Tony Amonte

Flyers land Amonte The Philadelphia Flyers continue to stockpile talent for a run to the Stanley Cup Finals, pulling off a deal Monday with Phoenix to land premier forward Tony Amonte. The Flyers, who have already made deals for winger Sami Kapanen, defenseman Dmitry Yushkevich and checking center Claude Lapointe, imported one of the top-scoring forwards of the past decade for young forward Guillaume Lefebvre, Atlanta's third-round pick this season, which was previously acquired, and a...

  7. Rangers loss to Fla

The fix must be on... This is easily the most frusterating loss of the season. Not only did the Rangers actually score 3 goals, only one of which counted, and lose 2-1, but they were consistantly robbed by this frekin Luongo pulling saves out of his ass. The referee has a quick whistle, and then the f-ing camera crew can't get a good shot of what was probably a goal. For those who didn't see it, be glad you didn't because the Rangers outshot, outplayed, and just basically overmatched...

  8. Mike Keenan to coach Rangers again?

I'm hearing this all over the place. Here is a snippet from an ESPN article: The Keenan watch continues As noted here last time, two league sources insisted that Mike Keenan would be leaving Florida after the season to coach and possibly manager the New York Rangers. Since then, the Panthers have fired Keenan's assistants, Paul Baxter and George Kingston, who were inherited from previous head coach Duane Sutter. Florida manager Rick Dudley then chose two new assistants without...

  9. Yao Ming

This guy looks like the real deal. I doubted him when he first came over but Yao has some skills. Those first few minutes he had vs Shaq was just awesome several weeks ago. He was impressive against the Knicks and looks like he'll be a dominant player in the next year or two. Agree?

  12. ECAC college hockey playoffs - RPI vs. Union

Well, I'm watching my Engineers on YES right now, enjoying a 2-0 lead over rival Union after 2 periods. I was an Electrical Engineering major at RPI and spent many a night at the Fieldhouse watching my team and, man, I loved those hockey games. I even went to a game @ Union when they played each other, and it's always an exciting matchup. Now, RPI isn't exactly "going anywhere" this year, nor have they in quite some time, but it would be nice for us to advance to the next round by going...

  14. Tyson wins in 49 seconds

He looked sloppy, but he got the KO. Now I'm watching the post-game, and he claims that his doctor advised him that he'd broken his back in a motorcycle accident prior to the fight. Something about a vertebrae was slightly broken, but he decided not to cancel, as he'd done in the past.

  15. Thanks Emmitt

Being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, today sure was a terrible day as Emmitt Smith was released. Thanks for a great 13 years Emmitt and it was just too bad that some kind of deal could not have been worked out keeping him in Dallas.

  17. John Ruiz vs Roy Jones Jr.

Is this fight worth watching? After years of seeing Jones Jr. beat up on bums, he's giving away 33 pounds and stepping up to heavyweight to fight, well, a heavyweight bum. I just don't see him losing, still the prospect of seeing him get knocked on his ass sure is tempting.

  18. Ewing's #33 heads to the Rafters at MSG

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!! I still remember when he was drafted in '85, how excited people were that they'd get him, just as people are now w/6'8" LeBron James. When those bouncing balls stopped and another team had gotten the second pick, #1 was all theirs, and he was immediately put on the cover of SI. Anyway, I remember Neil Leifer, the photog, said he'd photographed him in all the teams' jerseys just in case, sooooo ... even though he never came through on that...

It's officially the Michigan State Spartans (Johnson's school) v the Indiana State Sycamores (Bird's), but the main attraction is obviously Earvin "Magic" Johnson facing and ultimately defeating his soon to be archrival but good buddy, Larry "Legend" Bird. Sat, 03/01/03, 4pm ET 2 hrs. For all you college hoops fans and basketball ol' schoolers, don't miss this one!!!
