  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: The Ask anything about computers thread

I have seen we have various threads about computer help, what to buy? various terms, differences between MAC and PC, I made this thread for anyone that wants some of us with computer experience to answer some of those who need some advice or help trouble shooting.. Jason

  2. Sticky Thread Sticky: The First Name Thread

There are a bunch of people who frequent this Forum who's first name I know. There are countless others that I have no idea what their first name is. Couple that with the hundreds upon hundreds of new people who have registered that would have no idea who people are... I thought it would be a good idea for a Thread where people (who wish to divulge this information) give their first name. This is not to be a joke Thread, please be serious and only respond if you wish to give your name. ...

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE – New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a relaunch of our...

  1. President Donald Trump

I closed down the Election 2016 thread, but have opened this one to discuss the POTUS. I must be a glutton for punishment. About 95% of the complaints I get via IM are from that one thread. A similar percentage of “reported posts” also come from that thread. However, it’s generated over 37,000 entries. Our community clearly sees value in a political discussion. So, we can let it continue. GROUND RULES Keep it courteous and respectful. Disagree all you want, but watch the...

  2. Non-Presidential News Stories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread Thread

I closed the Election 2016 thread, because it’s clearly old news. In its place, I opened a thread to discuss the President, and I’m opening this one to discuss Current Events that don’t necessarily center around the President. Often, the Election thread went off on tangents. I’m thinking of this as a stand-alone thread to be a home for those tangent discussions. When the discussion gets around to politics, the same ground rules will apply as I stated in the President Trump thread: ...

  3. 2020 Democratic Nomination

We're understandably seeing more and more discussion in the non-POTUS thread about the many Democrats who are declared for the Presidency, or who appear to be running. It's probably appropriate to start a separate thread. As in the other political threads, please be careful. Disagree, but don't make accusations about what someone "really thinks" if they happen to disagree with you. Keep the discussion as respectful as possible. So, here's the field. What do you think? Who makes it...

One for the movies and now one for TV shows :D Anyone watch "Psych", the new show on USA? I like it quite a bit. It's pretty funny. Also, anyone watch Hell's Kitchen?

  5. Game of Thrones: Final Season

Winter is here. The first (and probably only) trailer dropped just now on HBO's twitter account. I'm sure it'll be on YouTube shortly, but here's the link from twitter. https://twitter.com/HBO/status/1102962018728984582?s=20 Yes the trailer is dark and hard to see. No I don't care. I didn't need a trailer at all. I have no idea how they'll end this but I know like with every big show 60% of the people will be upset with the ending.

  6. The Real World/The Challenge Thread

Now this might wind up being a thread for just me and Rhodey. But I think at this point this should deserves it's own thread that we can go back to every time a new season starts up. As per usual, previews of this season show that there will be lots of fighting/crying/hookups/drama. The format for the new season is that former exes have been paired up as teammates and will be forced to work together. As a CT fan I will be pulling for CT and Diem, but I would be surprised to see Abram...

Google Chrome is blocking the "The "I just saw a movie that doesn't warrant its own thread" (Version 2.0)" thread to me: where I can't view or reply to the thread anymore. In case anyone else has that problem I thought maybe we should start a new thread here... Version 3.0

  10. Healthcare

We've spun off on a pretty significant tangent in the Trump thread. Let's move the discussion of the GOP health care plan here. I'll go first. ObamaCare is, in my opinion, an abject failure. It forced all Americans to purchase a commercial product, something our government has not previously done. The Supreme Court's decision to allow it was dubious, as the Court came up with its own language to interpret the word "fine" to really mean "tax" to keep the legislation within...

  11. Notre Dame Cathedral Is On Fire

It's bad. I've been watching live footage from Paris. Part of the spire collapsed and the whole building is just engulfed. :( https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/04/15/world/europe/notre-dame-fire.amp.html

  13. Education

Once upon a time, we had a thread on Education. I can't seem to find it...it was likely in the old Political Soapbox. Regardless, increasingly, we've seen discussion of education show up in the Election thread. Probably not the right venue. So, allow me to create a space to discuss our educational system. Is what we're doing in Public Education the right route? Should we have educational standards? Is it OK to leave some children behind? What should we be doing, as a society, to...

  17. Boeing 737 Max 8

This will be long. I'll apologize in advance. Over the last six months, we've seen two Boeing 737 Max 8s crash, killing 346 people. Neither investigation report has been released, so any speculation right now is exactly that...speculation. Over the same six months, there have been thousands of safe, uneventful flights in the same airframe. Is the Max 8 safe? Probably, but there seem to be some commonalities between the two crashes that are concernful. First a primer on several...

  18. RIP Don Newcombe

I just learned of the Brooklyn Dodger great, Don Newcombe's passing at age 92. He was one of the greatest pitchers of the 1950's and was among the first African Americans to play MLB. He was a fierce competitor on a par with Mike Garcia, he will be missed. Andy
