  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: The First Name Thread

There are a bunch of people who frequent this Forum who's first name I know. There are countless others that I have no idea what their first name is. Couple that with the hundreds upon hundreds of new people who have registered that would have no idea who people are... I thought it would be a good idea for a Thread where people (who wish to divulge this information) give their first name. This is not to be a joke Thread, please be serious and only respond if you wish to give your name. ...

I have seen we have various threads about computer help, what to buy? various terms, differences between MAC and PC, I made this thread for anyone that wants some of us with computer experience to answer some of those who need some advice or help trouble shooting.. Jason

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE – New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a relaunch of our...

  1. President Donald Trump

I closed down the Election 2016 thread, but have opened this one to discuss the POTUS. I must be a glutton for punishment. About 95% of the complaints I get via IM are from that one thread. A similar percentage of “reported posts” also come from that thread. However, it’s generated over 37,000 entries. Our community clearly sees value in a political discussion. So, we can let it continue. GROUND RULES Keep it courteous and respectful. Disagree all you want, but watch the...

  3. July 20, 1963

OK, I apologize in advance. I am well aware that blowing your own horn is in bad taste, but since this is a special occasion, I will do it anyhow. Today is my Wife, Nancy, and my 55th Wedding anniversary. The years have been kinder to us than we (I) deserve. We have been blessed with five fine kids and twelve magnificent grandkids. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have as my wife the finest Woman that I have ever met. I have suffered with many of you through many...

Google Chrome is blocking the "The "I just saw a movie that doesn't warrant its own thread" (Version 2.0)" thread to me: where I can't view or reply to the thread anymore. In case anyone else has that problem I thought maybe we should start a new thread here... Version 3.0

  8. Non-Presidential News Stories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread Thread

I closed the Election 2016 thread, because it’s clearly old news. In its place, I opened a thread to discuss the President, and I’m opening this one to discuss Current Events that don’t necessarily center around the President. Often, the Election thread went off on tangents. I’m thinking of this as a stand-alone thread to be a home for those tangent discussions. When the discussion gets around to politics, the same ground rules will apply as I stated in the President Trump thread: ...

Anyone here been on the Keto Diet? I'm giving it a try - need to drop about 15 and it apparently works faster than other diets.

One for the movies and now one for TV shows :D Anyone watch "Psych", the new show on USA? I like it quite a bit. It's pretty funny. Also, anyone watch Hell's Kitchen?

  11. What are you reading 2018?

I'm 900 pages in to "Oathbringer". I really like Sanderson but these Stormlight books (this is the 3rd of a planned 10) are all too long. I'm also currently listening to "Winter of the World" the second volume of Ken Follett's Century Trilogy. It's very very well researched and the way he weaves these 5 fictional families into the events leading up to and during WWII is amazing. He's still not the most prolific writer as his books read more like a manual than true prose, but I'm still...

  13. The Real World/The Challenge Thread

Now this might wind up being a thread for just me and Rhodey. But I think at this point this should deserves it's own thread that we can go back to every time a new season starts up. As per usual, previews of this season show that there will be lots of fighting/crying/hookups/drama. The format for the new season is that former exes have been paired up as teammates and will be forced to work together. As a CT fan I will be pulling for CT and Diem, but I would be surprised to see Abram...

  14. Big week for me. (And that is the understatement of the decade)

Next Wednesday I will undergo six hours of tests and interviews to determine my viability to be placed on the kidney transplant list. To say this is one of the most important days of my life is an understatement. Not getting on it means I continue on dialysis as long as it works and then that is it as they say. My doctor believes that I will get on as all my numbers are where they should be (for someone with kidney failure). Today I found out two of the pre-tests were waived! Either way I won't...

  17. mlb.com Team Message Boards Discontinued?

When I couldn't log in on their message boards this AM, I called customer service. A rep said that all the message boards are being taken down. If so, there will certainly be an influx of new posters on this forum. Anybody else know anything more? If what I was told is not true, it wouldn't be the first time MLB customer service reps didn't know what they were talking about.

  19. Independence Day

Enjoy your mid-week Holiday, everyone. Enjoy the barbecue, or picnic, or beach, or whatever else you have planned. Enjoy the fireworks (but, for the love of God, if you live near me in Colorado, leave the fireworks to the professionals. Half the state is already on fire.). But, take time some time during the day to re-appreciate just how revolutionary the very concept of self-governing was in 1776. The vision of the Founding Fathers was genuinely breathtaking, and we should take care...
