  2. Where is Dave Visbeck?

I know a few of you in here talk with Dave through email and may have been wondering why he isn't replying. I was supposed to post this a week or so ago but have been real busy with the kids and so on. Anyways, Dave's daughter is in St. Francis Hospital in San Francisco and needs a liver transplant. :( When Dave left two weeks ago she was on the ventilator but is doing alot better now. Sad news is though that they still have not put her on the transplant list and until she is able to get...

  3. R.I.P. Pete Fornatale

For those of us who grew up in the NY area, and listened to the greatest radio station ever, WNEW-FM.. Pete's was a voice we all knew & loved.. he, along with the other pioneers, like Scottso, Elsas, etal, gave us the soundtrack of our youth.. he's passed way too young, but he left an indelible mark in our minds. It's a good feelin' to know, we all loved ya, Pete !

  6. Dick Clark dies at 82

http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/dick-clark-entertainment-icon-nicknamed-americas-oldest-teenager/story?id=16076252 Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC became a Dec. 31 tradition, with Clark hosting the festivities for more than three decades, introducing the entertainment acts and, of course, counting down to midnight as the ball dropped in New York's Times Square. He had a good run, that's for sure but still sad. RIP Dick Clark. I used to love watching him on TV when I was...

  7. Bodies the Exhibit

Has anyone been to this exhibit? My daughter and her boyfriend want to go next weekend. I'm not really familiar with South Str. Seaport. Is the exhibit worth the $$$. Any restaurant recommendations in that area?

  8. College for kids graduating high school

I know there is a "where did you go to college" thread but we are just embarking on a long journey with our first of 3 kids heading to college next year. We've visited about 5 schools so far and we are learning all about filling out the financial aid forms or FAFSA as they are called. Anyone with recommendations, tips etc on the whole college process? I'm learning bits and pieces especially from my 2 running partners who each have a kid going to college - one is at BC and one going to Ithaca.

  10. Levon Helm RIP

http://www.wtop.com/?nid=551&sid=2833813 His vocal on The Band's live version of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" from the Last Waltz still gives me chills. Rarely does a live version surpass the studio version, but that one sure did. RIP. Heidi EDIT: Found it on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jREUrbGGrgM&feature=related

  11. Happy Easter

May this be a very blessed day for all the Catholics on here. My late parents were Roman Catholics, went to Church every single Sunday, and Easter was always a very special day. The baking by Mom of the special Easter bun, which is a West Indian fruit bun filled w/raisins, cherries and such, was always anticipated by us kiddies back in the day. Please enjoy this High Holy Day in your own special way.

  12. Nyuk, Nyuk

I can't wait to see the new Three Stooges movie. I hope it's good. I grew up watching the originals with Officer Joe Bolton. Classic genius comedy by Moses Horwitz, Louis Feinberg & Jerry Horwitz... or as we all know, Moe, Larry & Curly. Who knows, maybe they'll have an "Abbott & Costello" flick, another of my favorites ! ( "Who's on first ? " )

  14. The Killing on AMC

The Killing is a new show on AMC. I saw the first episode tonight which was two hours long and it is a very good show. It will be one every Sunday night at 10 PM. Has anyone else seen it and,if so, what did you think? AMC is making some very good shows these days. Too bad they have so many commercials.

  17. Gil Noble, pioneering black journalist, dies at 80

He'd been very sick for awhile after having suffered a stroke. I remember him as the weekend journalist on Eyewitness News back when the others during the week were Ernie Anastos, Roseanne Scamardella (the topic of late comic Gilda Radner's "Roseanne Roseannadanna" character), Chee Chee Williams, John Johnson, Warner Wolf on sports and Storm Field on weather. Since 1968, his "Like It Is" noon broadcast has been a steady and reliable voice for issues pertaining to blacks when there were...
