  1. Let's Talk Podcasts, What Do You Listen To?

I am a rabid fan of Comedy Bang Bang (saw them live two weeks ago here in DC). I also enjoy a few other things on the Earwolf Network like Ronna & Beverly, Sklarbro Country and Hollywoord Handbook. On the comedy front I also listen to Real Time, Doug Loves Movies and You Made it Weird (by the way Pete Holmes new show on TBS is fantastic). The popculture podcasts I really like are Firewall & Iceberg and Hollywood Prospectus. For political podcasts, I listen to Slate's Political Gabfest, the...

  2. Pearl Jam Thread

For those of you who dig the Pearl Jam, check out this detailed cover story from Rolling Stone magazine. It was a VERY GOOD read. Enjoy! http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10533095/the_second_coming_of_pearl_jam

  3. Aretha Franklin, First Lady of Soul, passes at 76

Good morning. Today, we have lost a true member of music royalty. Aretha Franklin, who was honored as both the Queen of Soul and the First Lady of Soul, has left us. R-I-P :( :( :( Her appeal, the gift of her gospel-trained voice will forever be something that many have played at home, on the radio, parties, etc for approximately 50 years. Such class, such grace, having made so many lovely songs which people just loved. A very beautiful human being indeed. Goodbye, Aretha. May God...

  5. Hurricane Season 2018

I think this predicted to be a "slow" hurricane season which is good given FEMA's don't call us policy that seems to be in place. That said a Cat 5 Hurricane Lane (who would name a Hurricane - Lane - honestly who comes up with these names) could be headed for Hawaii right now. Oh personally I hope it passes to the west of the Islands because you know Hawaii is surround by water - big water - like an ocean - and we all know how well that went with Puerto Rico last year.

  7. Where to move in NJ?

Hi everybody - I'm not a frequent poster but have been here for ages and know a lot of you live in NJ. I currently live in the Philly area and am transferring within my company up to north Jersey (Kenilworth) and am looking for a decent area to move a family with kids. I'm not opposed to living 40-50 miles away if it means more property and cheaper housing. Anyone have any good suggestions? I've been looking in the Lebanon/Clinton area and Mount Olive area. Just for complete transparency,...

  11. mlb.com Team Message Boards Discontinued?

When I couldn't log in on their message boards this AM, I called customer service. A rep said that all the message boards are being taken down. If so, there will certainly be an influx of new posters on this forum. Anybody else know anything more? If what I was told is not true, it wouldn't be the first time MLB customer service reps didn't know what they were talking about.

  13. Independence Day

Enjoy your mid-week Holiday, everyone. Enjoy the barbecue, or picnic, or beach, or whatever else you have planned. Enjoy the fireworks (but, for the love of God, if you live near me in Colorado, leave the fireworks to the professionals. Half the state is already on fire.). But, take time some time during the day to re-appreciate just how revolutionary the very concept of self-governing was in 1776. The vision of the Founding Fathers was genuinely breathtaking, and we should take care...

  14. Westworld HBO series

I figure there's enough of us watching and talking about it for it's own thread. I really enjoy it so far but the biggest complaint is how noncommital they are with the rules of the park. Luckily the internet exists. http://www.slashfilm.com/westworld-logistical-questions-answered/ Then there's 8 Westworld theories from the first two episodes: http://www.slashfilm.com/westworld-theories/

  15. New Music

Anyone picked up any good new music lately? Went on a bit of a tear lately on allofmp3.com and snagged the following: - Arctic Monkeys- these guys are gonna be hot sh1t this summer, I can already tell after a few listens through the album. they're just regular dudes singing about regular things rather than the whiny woe-is-our-world stuff you're hearing from a lot of their counterparts these days - DJ Muggs vs GZA "Grandmaster"- the Cypress Hill DJ paired with GZA from the Wu,...

  16. 2018 Mid-Term Elections

Clearly, the 2018 mid-terms will be big news. Let's open a dedicated thread to avoid cluttering up the Non-Trump thread. However, like the other political threads, we need some ground rules. Keep it respectful, particularly with regard to other peoples' opinions. If your only contribution will be something along the lines of "Republicans suck," or "Candidate X is a horrible human being," then just hold your thoughts to yourself. But, if you'd like to RESPECTFULLY comment on a specific...

This series of articles to follow is as true as it is scary. Yet, we were warned over 40 years ago by an unlikely source. Thankfully, officials have just renewed efforts to battle this hellish weed...

  18. 2018 Summer Vacation Plans

We've already made plans & have reservations set to make a trip to visit Gettysburg Nat'l Military Park for late June. Then on into early July, just in time for the Fourth, we will visit the sites in Washington DC. Nothing set in stone yet, but we got our request to visit the White House among the other numerous sites while in town. I'm positive the Donald will be fleeing town before we even set foot there. :) I'm a bit apprehensive. Too much to see and I'm betting there will be...
