  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a soft relaunch of...

  2. Exclamation Sticky Thread Sticky: *IMPORTANT* New URL for the NYYFans Forum

All, in their continuing effort to provide high quality Yankees content, SNY has decided to split the NYYFans.com site from the forum. Effective immediately, the NYYFans forum is using a new URL: www.nyyfansforum.com - you will need to log in with your user credentials. Please update your bookmarks now. The old URL, forums.nyyfans.com will redirect to the new domain name for a temporary period of time while everyone makes the transition. Please let me know if you have any questions or...

  3. Sticky Thread Sticky: Please Use Descriptive Thread Titles

Please show some courtesy to your fellow fans and use descriptive thread titles in this sub-forum and in all other areas of this forum so everyone knows exactly what's being discussed in a particular thread. A thread titled "Joe Torre" for example could be about anything - please specify exactly what you want to discuss in the thread you're starting such as "Will Joe Torre Ever Come Back to the Yankees?". Not everyone has a lot of time on the forum to go in and out of every single thread so...

  2. The Official 2019 Magic Number Thread

With less than two months to go, the Yankees (71-39) enter the home stretch in a virtual tie with Houston for the AL's best record, and an 8-game lead in the division (9 in the loss column). The magic number to win the AL East is 44, still a big number of course but the longer the countdown the more fun this is. Here are some other magic numbers for clinching a better record than specific teams, for those who are interested: Red Sox: 38 Rays: 44 A's: 44 (currently an imperfect...

  3. ALDS Pitching Plan Discussion

Despite everyone in the baseball world (including Brian Cashman) realizing and expecting the Yanks' need to add an impact starting pitcher to their staff, they wouldn't or couldn't, depending on your point of view. So Boone needs to work with what he's got. The unknown variables include expected returns by Luis Severino and Dellin Betances. No one wants to lean on these guys, but let's assume they are at least serviceable or league-average pitchers in October. ALDS Game 1 - Fri Oct 4 - YS -...

  4. Poll Poll: Which of these AL teams will miss the playoffs?

I'm going to go out on a limb and declare Boston and Texas dead for the purposes of this poll. Please choose which of these other six teams will not make the playoffs.

  5. Yankees 2019 Difference Maker

(A thread idea for conversation on something other than the hot-stove...) While we know that baseball is very much a team sport, and that a successful season requires 25, 30, or even 35 players,... if you had to pick one Yankees player for whom a career season/full maturation/development/bounceback performance would have the most impact in getting the Yankees a World Series Championship in 2019, who would it be? There are obviously lots of candidates.... I'm eschewing WAR-based arguments...
