Discuss the Yankees in here (Formerly Inside the Lines II)

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: ATTENTION EVERYONE – New Community Standards

Big news - our revised Community Standards are finally online. Please access them on the footer of the page, towards the right-hand edge..... The main point of differentiation between NYYFans and most other sports forums is the sense of community that has been fostered here, since our site was founded many years ago. In order to maintain this atmosphere, we must hold posters to certain basic expectations when participating here..... To this end, we will be conducting a soft relaunch of...

  2. Exclamation Sticky Thread Sticky: *IMPORTANT* New URL for the NYYFans Forum

All, in their continuing effort to provide high quality Yankees content, SNY has decided to split the NYYFans.com site from the forum. Effective immediately, the NYYFans forum is using a new URL: www.nyyfansforum.com - you will need to log in with your user credentials. Please update your bookmarks now. 3. Sticky Thread Sticky: Please Use Descriptive Thread Titles

Please show some courtesy to your fellow fans and use descriptive thread titles in this sub-forum and in all other areas of this forum so everyone knows exactly what's being discussed in a particular thread. A thread titled "Joe Torre" for example could be about anything - please specify exactly what you want to discuss in the thread you're starting such as "Will Joe Torre Ever Come Back to the Yankees?". Not everyone has a lot of time on the forum to go in and out of every single thread so...

Noticed a bump on the old Hot Stove thread so started thinking about possible options for our biggest need this summer. Starting pitching? Patrick Corbin perhaps?

  3. Question- Why is batting avg so unimportant in today's game?

I will be the first to admit I am not into advanced baseball stats. But why are fans now so quick to dismiss batting avgs? Just for example, boston is on pace for one of the best seasons ever. Who leads the league in batting avg this year? Boston. Last year who won the world series? Houston. Which team had the highest batting avg? Houston. Now I know batting avg is just one stat and no one stat means your going to win the world series, I just find it odd that fans are so quick to dismiss it....

  4. Postgame Loss 08/15/2018: Team Bums

Grand Bum: Cessa Other Bums: Offense outside Andujar/Stanton (any little league team can hit the Rays) Cashman (not doing anything to get us a backup OF) Boone (not instituting punishment) WFAN (never asking Cash about getting a backup OF)

  5. Why are the Yankees struggling against bad teams? (Rational perspectives only)

*** This thread will only bring out the rational side from me and other posters *** Look, I want some realistic answers. I just want to know why this team struggles against bad teams like Baltimore and Tampa Bay? Are those teams just trying to play extra motivated against us to send a message? Are we just acting complacent? Can coaching in any sort of way solve this issue? Or is this an issue we have to deal with having a young roster? To connect with that, why is it do we seem...

  6. Postgame Loss: 8/16/2018: Rays @ Yankees Super Bums

Super Bums: Bird (such a failure) Gardner (washed) Romine (no excuses) Bases Loaded, no outs. A little league team would get 2 runs there. Make sure Bird, Gardner, and Romine are not able to take showers or eat after the game. Hell, make them walk home for what it's worth.

  7. Team Hero: August 14, 2018 vs Rays

Team Hero: J.A. Happ Honorable Mentions: Aaron Hicks, Miguel Andujar, Greg Bird, Austin Romine, and Aroldis Chapman Chapman had walked 10 batters in his last 6 innings before today. Today he threw 9 pitches of which 2 were balls, which makes it easier for him to pitch tomorrow and possibly tomorrow and Thursday. Here are the Top 5 Yankees in Win Probability Added (WPA) from https://www.fangraphs.com/livewins.aspx?date=2018-08-14&team=Yankees&dh=0&season=2018 Happ: .395 Romine: .121...

  10. JD Martinez

I want this guy. I would like to hear arguments against signing this guy. The only ones I can think of are these five: 1. He will put us over the LT threshhold 2.Promote someone in house in the minors as DH 3. Wait to spend on someone like Harper 4. Ideally we need another left handed power bat 5. Martinez is an OF, will not want to DH #1 is clearly not true. With all the money coming off, we have enough to sign him and Otani and for that matter, CC if we want him. #2 this is a...

  13. Team Hero: August 8, 2018 vs White Sox

Easy one tonight. Team Hero: Luis Severino! Honorable Mention: Giancarlo Stanton! Though, in view of the fact that Sevy didn't really settle in until after Stanton put us up by four runs ... I wouldn't complain if someone wanted to make it the other way round. :)

  14. Post I hope Cashman learns something from last night...

Having a 6th starter or a guy that you know can go 4+ innings is very important in today's game. Hopefully in 2019 Cashman will give boone a 6th starter to work with. It doesnt even have to be a 6 man rotation. Just an extra guy that can go out there as needed. Whether it be as a starter or a long reliever.

  16. Do you think the yankees are commuting insurance fraud with ellsbury?

I know it's very far fetched, but I did not know the yankees had an insurance policy on Ellsbury. Everything just seems very convenient. https://yanksgoyard.com/2018/06/02/yankees-insurance-policy-jacoby-ellsbury/
