I am nto sure if this belongs here, if not I apologize and please move it to the appropriate forum.

Is it possible to get 2 blown saves in one game?

Lets say The Padres are up 1 run over the Giants, in the bottom of the ninth. Since they are the away team, Trevor Hoffman comes in to close the game. First batter hits a homerun to tie the game. Trevor gets a blown save, but gets out of the inning with out any trouble, throwing say 7 pitches.
In the top of the tenth, the Padres get a run. Hoffman stays in the game, and gives up another home run, but again, gets out of the innings.

Does Hoffman get credit for 2 blown saves?
If it is possible to get 2 blown saves, who was the last pitcher to do it.

No it's not possible to get 2 blown saves.

The 9th inning was the inning Hoffman blew the save. When the Padres scored a run the top of the tenth, he's the pitcher of decision (win).

Just to clarify , it is possible for a TEAM to get more than 1 blown save in a game. For instance, say MO blows a save in the 9th at a visiting ballpark, and the game is tied.... Say Surtzes pitches 2 innings, Yanks get a lead, and Gordon comes in to nail down the victory, and the other team wins. Both Gordon and Rivera would be credited with a blown save.

The ultimate kick in the pants for a closer is when he gets the blown save AND the LOSS -- like our Mo in 2001 WS Game 7. That means he's given up the tying run, and the go-ahead run, and his team eventually lost.

Sounds correct.

A player can not get more then 1 blown save in a game, but different players can each be credited with a blown save in the same game. Your senario would be an example.

I imagine a manager of such a game would have pulled out what little hair he has left, if this would ever happen.:uhh:
