amazing how that program has fallen completly into the gutter

NEW YORK -- Three St. John's basketball players were suspended from the team Thursday, hours after a woman told police she was raped in a hotel by men she met in a strip club.

Apparently this woman's allegations turned out to be false and the players won't be charged. However, because they still broke team rules one player has been expelled and two suspended. More details here: http://www.newsday.com/sports/college/ny-sjurape0205,0,2359287.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines

What were these guys even doing at a strip club in the first place?

I'm still befuddled about her claim that she'd met them there. Unless she was with a group which also included men, I thought most strip clubs didn't allow unescorted women onto the premises (single girls draw attention from the dancers).

Apparently she may have been a prostitute. Not 100% sure if that's been confirmed though.

4 scholarship players will suit up on Sunday when they face the BC Eagles. I may head down there to get some playing time in that game. Who's with me?

Best comment so far: (paraphrasing) "Well, the 'Saint' part of the name doesn't apply, but apparently the 'Johns' does"...

Isn't the expelled player and one of the suspended players the Red Storm's top scorers this season? If so, I think their season is going to be even worse than it already is!

What gets me is that the expelled player was involved in another incident in which he pushed a female member of the swim team against a wall but apparently didn't get much of a punishment for that.

Mike Jarvis is from my hometown of Cambridge. We are at a loss to explain what happened to him in NY.

Well Providence was in the same mess a few years back and now they back on track. Hope St Johns can do the same.

I am going to miss the Big East, BC is out of their tree to join the ACC. The travel alone is going to be brutal, the nearest school is 400 miles away.

I think it will take about four years for St. John's to be respectable again in the Big East. It will all depend on the coach they bring in and the policies that are enacted at the school. Good luck to them!!
