I feel (at least hope) that this list compliments yours, in that it shows the position each player played by year, but not their number. For OF, you'll have LF/CF/RF as you go from left-to-right.

It turns out some Mut$y had said we'd had 5,000 fans in the '80s. That did it. I went to every single sublink of every single Yankee site I could find until I found it. Mut$y fan was left speechless.

I was one of the 5000 - and damn proud of it. :)

I'll admit I read about them in the papers, of Billy's firings, his feuds with Reggie and all. I even remember the comments of the other passengers when they couldn't get back in to rescue Thurmie #15. The fire & heat was just too intense to do this.

I also remember that George, who had a crude-ish image back then (re how he treated Pinella, Billy M & other mgrs), redeemed himself forever with me, in that he'd flown the other Yankee wives & girlfriends over to Diane (spl?) Munson's house for awhile to try to bring her life back, help her out with the kids. That was the single greatest non-sports achievement in all of sports I've ever heard of.

Now I find myself kicking myself in disgust for not having paid attention so much. I still remember lots of headlines, but boy did I let a lot of helpful info slip away. All I could do is study the present team and try to research the 80s guys. I also knew I *had* to find that attendance site, no matter what. Wasn't down that far, so not bad.

So tell me, any good stories about Yankee games back then? Obviously real fans, no front runners. Feel free to be long-winded, run your mouth, I'll take all the goodies info in with a smile.

This was such a good link, I thought it deserved a bump after all these years.

Baseball starts tomorrow.
