Will the Golden State Warriors successfully repeat as NBA World champions? The Dubs are gunning for their third title in the last four years.

Will LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers continue to be the team to beat in the East?

Also in this thread, there will be some talk of 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification which starts in August in Europe followed by all FIBA confederations in late November.

A big FU to Paul George for holding his team, and fans over the barrel, with all his I won't re-sign with the team after my contract is up.

I mean, people will be mad either way, because everybody feels entitled to a piece of him. He can sign where he wants.

I mean, people will be mad either way, because everybody feels entitled to a piece of him. He can sign where he wants.

I totally agree about his "wants" but only about a week ago, he was talking about how he felt that this team was being built as a winner. Yet, he has a year left on the contract and instead of helping the team get into that position, he is now forcing the teams hand into trading him. Why in the world would the Pacers try to keep him when they will get nothing for him when he leaves? To me as a Pacers fan, he is saying two different things with his ultimate goal being, not to be a Pacer this upcoming season.

True but it would have been a better situation if George had not done this publicly as to me he is trying to force the teams hand because he is not happy.

I think you are better off knowing know and allowing the team to trade him for assets rather than let him walk next year because let's face it regardless of what moves Indiana makes in the off season they are still going to be long shots to advance past the 2nd round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs and if George has little to no intention of resigning with the Pacers better to deal him while you can.

Will the Golden State Warriors successfully repeat as NBA World champions?
Barring an injury or surprise defection of Durant it's hard not to call them prohibitive early favorites. I mean this is a team that is returning 4 All-star players under the age of 28 as it's core and has won at least 67 games 3 years running.

It will be interesting to see if Bob Meyers can be as crafty putting the complimentary pieces around the "core 4" as he was this year and if they will go well over the lux tax to retain Iggy as they are expected to retain his Bird Rights with the way Durant is expect to structure his opt/out resign deal.

:roflmao: @ Indiana Pacers for taking that deal instead of the Boston Celtics.

Via listening Freddie Coleman's ESPN Radio show, Danny Ainge offered the Pacers three first rounders, Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley for PG13, but the Pacers say no. Terrible move by Kevin Pritchard and Chad Buchanan for taking Oladipo's horrific contract and a non-starter in Sabonis.

As for Sam Presti and the Oklahoma City Thunder, you're not going to be sure if PG13 is not going to be in OKC after this season.

Finally for Ainge, the Boston Celtics better get Gordon Hayward or they miss out on another quality talented player.

As a Pacer fan, I am glad that Paul George was dealt before the season began in the sense of what he said putting the Pacers into that position to begin with. But it is disappointing to see how Pacers management seemed to take the situation personal and they did not construct a deal that would help out the team, potentially, the most. Instead, letting the hurt feelings get in the way and the insistence to not make a deal with any Eastern Conference team, the Pacers surely did not make the best deal in hopes for their future. It sucks to lose a player of George's caliber but maybe OKC can be happy with a players words instead of his actions on the court.

We are an absolute dumpster fire. Just when you think we might be making progress by dumping Phil and getting a good GM, we sign Hardaway Jr to a laughable contract this is virtually guaranteed to come back and bite us like some many other bad deals, THEN we pass on Griffin, who actually has a good track record of making good basketball decisions, unlike anyone else in the Knicks' organization.

How good are the Raptors? Will they be the team to face GSW in the finals?

The Toronto Raptors are a pretty good team in the East. They can shoot especially the long ball, their defense is not bad and they're pretty good at home.

Problem is, Dwayne Casey, DeMar Derozan and the Raptors need to go through both the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the East and make the NBA Finals.

The Golden State Warriors will also have a bumpy and treacherous road to make their fourth straight NBA Finals appearance. Sure, the Dubs will probably face two of the four main challengers in the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Oklahoma City Thunder, but their first round matchup if they hold onto the #1 seed won't be a cakewalk.

The NBA All-Star weekend as a whole. It's alright.

I loved the final showdown in three-point contest between Klay Thompson and Devin Booker.

The winner of that game will take on the sixth seed Oklahoma City Thunder while the loser drops to the fourth seed and take on the New Orleans Pelicans, who thrashed the San Antonio Spurs.

Wow, I did not forsee the Pelicans going on a run like they have after losing Cousins.

Anthony Davis always presents matchup problems for GSW, if the Pelican guards play as well v GSW as they did v Portland this could be quite the series.

I think defense will tell the tale in this series.

The criticism for the New Orleans Pelicans before their series against the Portland Trail Blazers was they can't defend.

But the Pelicans proved their critics wrong when they allowed 105 points or lower in three of their four wins against the Trail Blazers.

Anyway GSW/HOU has looked forgone for a while especially once Curry came back and looked like well Curry.

Bos/Cle was not nearly a sure thing as recently as oh 10 days ago. Cleveland needed a questionable call in G5 to survive the Indiana series in 7 and Boston is without their 2 max super stars, not many teams can over come that - testament to great coaching there - and after surviving their own 7 game scare in round one it sure looked like Philly was the favorite coming into that series.

I understand that the Raptors made only one Eastern Conference final and had three 50-win seasons under Casey, but the Raptors losing to one of the megabeasts in NBA history in LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in three straight seasons doesn't deserve the pink slip.

I think the Raptors will regret firing Casey and go into a long slump a la the Sacramento Kings after they kicked Rick Adelman to the curb in 2006.

That's my whole point. There's not enough talent for 30 good teams so you have, more than in any other sport, the haves and have nots. Every decade we get these teams that go on runs. They are so much better than anyone else that it makes the bulk of the season irrelevant and as such, boring.

53-Player Roster NFL
25-Player Roster MLB
23-Player Roster NHL
14-Player Roster NBA

NBA has the smallest roster size by far so a star can completely dominate. One guy can change the whole team. Like you said, not enough talent, there aren't enough superstars to go around. The game is fatally flawed unless you change the rules to clip the wings of the superstars

I honestly watch very little regular season NBA basketball myself but I generally enjoy post season basketball a lot.

Holy moly, it looks like the Rockets are on the brink of winning this.

Man, I never expected it. I was rooting for Golden State but also happy that Pringles and his system finally found and executed a winning team.

Well, the Rockets have to do it without CP3 in Game 6.

Also, the last time the Warriors were down 3-2 in a playoff series was in the 2016 WCF against the Thunder. The Dubs came back and won.

When I saw CP walking off the court it didn’t seem that serious to me.

But then again, I have no idea what he’s really feeling and they’re probably taking the necessary precautions and all that.

I think we’ll see him again in this series.

I also say that if the Golden State Warriors win Game 6 inside Oracle Arena, CP3 will play in Game 7 on Monday night if necessary.

However, hamstring strains are a pain in the caboose to deal with.

Speaking of Game 7, LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers force a Game 7 against the Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday from TD Garden.

For the first time since 1979, both Conference Finals will go to Winner-Take-All Game 7s.

On Sunday, it's the Eastern Conference Finals decider in Boston's TD Garden. It's either the Boston Celtics making their 22nd NBA Finals appearance or LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers handing the Celtics first Game 7 loss on the TD Garden hardwood since 2009 and making their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance.

On Monday, the Western Conference Finals will be decided in Houston's Toyota Center.

Will James Harden and if he plays, Chris Paul, lead the Houston Rockets to their first NBA Finals appearance since winning it all in 1995 or will Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors complete their second Western Conference Finals comeback when facing elimination in the last three years and keep their back-to-back chances alive?

LeBron James again!

The King is going to his eighth straight NBA Finals appearance after the Cleveland Cavaliers outlast the Boston Celtics in seven, 87-79 to win their fourth straight Eastern Conference title.

For the Celtics, it was an unfortunate end to a great season without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward as Jayson Tatum and the Celtics lost their first game in this postseason and the first time in 38 series, the Celtics blew a 2-0 lead and lost a playoff series.

The Cavs will await of the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets where they have their own Game 7 on Monday from Toyota Center.

Will James Harden and the Rockets make their first NBA Finals appearance since winning it all in 1995 or will Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and the Warriors make a Cavs vs. Warriors NBA Finals series for the fourth straight year?

I'm kinda tired of hearing about Bill Russell's titles as some counter to LeBron making 8 straight finals.

Number of NBA teams in 1960: 8
Number of NBA teams in 1970: 14
Number of eastern conf NBA teams during LeBron's entire career: 15

Sure, 10 titles in 11 years is amazing, but people don't think about how much mathematically more difficult winning a title is now (before you even get into the talent difference between now and then)

I'm also sick and tired of any set of fans comparing and contrasting players like LeBron vs. MJ vs. Kobe vs. Kareem vs. Bill Russell and any team's successful periods (1958-1969 Celtics, 1970's Knicks and Celtics, 1980s Lakers, 1990's Bulls, 2000s Lakers, etc.) in NBA history.

They're all successful in their own ways.

Get ready for a Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers IV!

Stephen Curry and the Dubs outlast James Harden and the Houston Rockets 101-92 in Game 7 to book another NBA Finals date between LeBron James and company.

Houston had a 24-19 lead after the first quarter and led 54-43 at halftime.

But just like the 2016 Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Warriors used their relentless third quarter to pull away.

Curry, Klay, KD, Draymond and the Dubs outscored the Rockets 33-15 in the third quarter and edged the Rockets 25-23 in the fourth to win Game 7.

The Dubs had a 16-7 in treys made. Harden and Eric Gordon were a combined 4-25 and Trevor Ariza went 0/9 from downtown.

Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals start on Thursday.

Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo's got issues.

In February, The Ringer received an anonymous tip that Bryan Colangelo, the Philadelphia 76ers’ president of basketball operations, had been secretly operating five Twitter accounts. Since then, we have scrutinized and archived those accounts in an attempt to verify the source’s claims that the longtime NBA executive has been using them as a platform to:

Criticize NBA players, including Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, and Nerlens Noel

Publicly debate the decisions of his own coaching staff, as well as critique former Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie and Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri

Telegraph the 2017 trade in which the Sixers acquired the no. 1 overall pick that would become Markelle Fultz

Disclose nonpublic medical information about Okafor and gossip about Embiid and Fultz to members of the national and Philadelphia media

BB55's Primer and Predictions - 2018 NBA Finals: Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Keys for GSW:
- Keep the relentless defensive intensity without Andre Iguodala
- KD, Steph, Klay and Draymond pick up where they left off in Games 6 and 7 against the Houston Rockets and Draymond needs to stay out of trouble
- Strength in numbers
- Hold serve at home, win two at the Q

Keys for CLE:
- LeBron, LeBron and more LeBron
- Need help from a banged up K-Love, George Hill, Kyle Korver, JR Smith and Tristan Thompson
- Win the paint often
- Hold serve at home, win two at the Roaracle

Prediction:
Unless the Warriors play with their food and have silly moments (i.e. Draymond does something egregious in this series), the Dubs will make it a short to medium series.

Steve Kerr and the Dubs know that LeBron thrives when facing elimination and the King alone can steal a series.

In the end, the Cavs may keep one of the four Dubs megastars at bay, but the other three will pick them up.

BB55's Pick: Golden State Warriors over Cleveland Cavaliers in six.

Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP
If GSW wins: Stephen Curry
If CLE wins: LeBron James

Quite a game from him. I didn't think he was going to top his idiotic steal attempt at the end of the first half (when he gave Steph a wide open 3 to tie the game going into the locker room).

He just may not keep close track of the score/clock in general:

Its really amusing to watch him (probably the lowest basketball IQ player in the NBA) play with Lebron, the smartest player in the NBA. Lebron's this exasperated father figure that Carmelo couldn't quite be.
