1. 1998
2. 1927
3. 1939
4. 1937
5. 1923
6. 1936
7. 1947
8. 1942
9. 1961
10. 1938

This why the 1936-42 Team was the greatest team ever. Two years ago, I published a piece on this. (http://www.netshrine.com/bestteam.html)

If the Yanks win it all this year, I would be willing to consider the 1998-01 Yanks up there now too - given the extra post season games these days.

'23 might make it to the top ten. I could have included them.

1. 1998 (125-50, no real superstars, just the best TEAM)
I agree with NetShrine that the '36-'39 Yankees were the greatest baseball dynasty ever: 409-201 in the regular season plus 16-3 (.842) in the World Series. By comparison the Yanks from '96-'99 only won 400 games and went 35-10 (.778) in the postseason. To win over 2/3 of your games for that long could never happen today.

1939 even though i wasn't around to see them play has to be the best in my view ever. Then 1998, 1927. I think joe d hit like 381 that year. Then again im only picking the 1939 yankees cuz joe diMaggio is my all time favorite. Guy went to 10 ws's and won 9!! wow!!
